"So," Carlos said casually, "I had few ideas on how we could sabotage Felix."
I cocked an eyebrow, looking at him.
"I'm not telling you here. There are eyes and ears everywhere," he grumbled. I think he forgot we were surrounded by trees.
"Okay. I wasn't going to sabotage him or anything. I was just going to tell him that what he did was wrong."
It was Carlos's turn to cock his eyebrow.
"So in other words, you just don't have the balls to pull a prank on him."
"Not when you're around. I see how you look at Ryder. I don't want that kind of attention." Carlos scowled. I yelped when he pinched my arm. "You're not going anywhere with me. Not when you have blood all over your hand."
Carlos looked down at his bloodied fist. "Fine, but don't do anything without consulting with me first to make sure your bunny brain didn't screw up."
I rolled my eyes as he walked back towards the school quickly.
"Why are you getting revenge on Felix?"
I jumped about ten feet into the air. "Holy shit!"
My eyes frantically looked around in search of the voice that spoke out.
"Who's there?"
"Your conscience. It's been a while." The voice was feminine. I didn't recognize it.
"Carlos was right. There are eyes and ears everywhere," I mumbled before clearing my throat. "Seriously, whoever there please come out."
A quiet thud could be heard and I quickly turned around to see a shorter-than-me girl with dark brown eyes and olive skin. I didn't want to admit it but seeing someone shorter than me brought me a sick satisfaction.
"My name is Arishya. I was up in the tree reading when I overheard your conversation. Did not know that the schools nosey was in a relationship. You'd think that someone who is so good at observing everyone else's life and outing it like it's a winning lottery ticket would do the same with her own life."
"Excuse me," I said baffled.
"Sorry, let me rephrase. You are in a relationship with a boy in our school. That's news! Why aren't you writing about it?"
I stared at the girl as she smacked the school newspaper she was reading in her hand. "He and I are not in a relationship," I blurted out while gesturing to his ant-like figure in the distance. "And even if we were it's not news."
"Tell that to the fifty girls who ogling over him every day."
My mouth snapped shut at her words. I knew she was right. I was a fricken reporter at a high school. That tends to be the only thing people care about. "Fine. So you know a few things about what I do. That doesn't mean that my friend and I are nothing else but friends."
Arishya flipped her hair to the side and rolled her eyes. "Women."
"Are you done talking?" I questioned with annoyance. I had things to do.
"There you are!" A familiar voice shouted. I turned my head to see Erin, one of Karlie's friends, running towards us. Her face was a bright red hinting that she was already out of breath. "I asked you to help me with my math homework at lunch and you never showed. Hello Aspen."
I narrowed my eyes at her as she gave me a small wave before sighing deeply at the brown-haired girl. "Come on. It's due today."
"Alright alright," Arishya mumbled, throwing her hands up in surrender. The two started walking away from me leaving me by myself at the edge of the school property.
