CHAPTER ONE
My hands' gripped tightened on the doors' knob. I hastily swallowed my saliva and clenched my jaw. This is it Haneul, your future depends on this.
I swung the door open to see a young guy standing there. He looked quite rich and chivalrous. His hair were perfectly combed back. He wore a white suit and smiled at me.
"Kim Haneul?"
I flinched at my name and nodded slowly.
"Heres your letter from Hakuk High." He slid off his white glove and took out a letter from his inner jacket pocket.
He bowed and gave the letter to me. I gently held it and he left. Closing the door, my eyes didnt leave the envelope in my hands.
"Honey! Did you get it?" My dads' voiced echoed from the kitchen.
"Y-yeah!"
Then the thudding of footsteps could be heard as my dad entered the living room and jumped.
"What did you get?"
"I didnt open it yet.."
"Open it."
I nodded and opened the envelope and slid out a golden neat paper from inside. Me and my dad exchanged looks as I started reading it.
My eyes widened as I read it.
"I-"
"What happened!?"
"I-I got in!"
• 3 weeks earlier •
The alarmed buzzed. I got up from my table and snoozed it off. I havent slept since last night. Today was it. Today was my entry test and I had to ace it.
I stretched and moved the curtains open. A glistening ray of sunlight peered in. I heaved a sigh and glanced back at my table. Bunch of books were scattered around and crumpled papers were everywhere.
"Time to get ready."
Hakuk high is a really prestige school. Getting in there through this test was my only chance. Only one student will be able to attend and study at this amazing school.
I need to ace this test so I can get in the school and get big offers. So me and my dad can move to a better place than this.
We lived in a really small apartment. A living room attached to a tiny kitchen and only one room which was mine. My dad slept on the couch every day.
I came out the shower and slipped into my clothes. A big baggy sweater with leggings. I stepped infront of the mirror and swirled around in my sweater. If only I could afford pretty dresses...
I let my medium length hair fall down to my back. I was average looking, Brown eyes, nose, lips everything a human has. There was nothing extraordinary or special about me.
Although my dad complimented me everyday about how much I remind him of my mother. She was a very beautiful woman. She passed away when I was 7 years old. Its been 10 years ever since her accident.
"Lets do this , Haneul." I encouraged myself and stepped out of my apartment. I locked the door and was about to leave until Mrs Min called out.
"Good luck sweetie!" She smiled. Mrs Min was an old woman. She usually gifted us with food and other things. Her wrinkles became prominent as she smiled. I bowed at her.
"Thank you Mrs Min!" I smiled and took the stairs down.

The weather was not warm but not cold either. It was the perfect temperature to give a test.
I was recalling all the answers in my head as I reached the school. It was humongous. Just like a castle; it sat in the middle with many windows and doors.
I gasped at the amount of students entering through the huge metal gates. I could never get in.
I entered and gasped at the beautiful sight. A long pathway which lead to the school and a huge fountain was in the middle.
I prepared myself to give the test and entered the school.

.• Present •.
"I got in dad!" I cheered in happiness and hugged him. I saw tears streaming down his face and smiled.
"I did it."
"Yes. You made me proud. Once again"
I let go of him and glanced at the paper again.
This is it. My new life begins on Monday. Many new things await me.
