i|Movie Night & Chaos.
"Pick one out from the rack, munchkin." My dad called out from inside the kitchen. I grinned widely and went over to the stack of DVD's to pick out a movie I loved. Today was my chance to choose and we'd all watch it together like a family. This is the reason I loved the first and last Friday of every month. It was family night and we'd do various fun things together. Sometimes we went outside camping or we'd roast s'mores or barbeque meat in our backyard. Other times we'd binge watching a movie together or go for garden strolls. It was always a fun thing to do for Landon and I.
I looked forward to these days. Although my family isn't loaded like the families of most of the students in my school are, my parents always made an effort to keep me and Landon happy. They sacrificed a lot of things for us; my mom more to be honest. My mom was pregnant for me before she got married. She was 20 at the time and she wasn't really prepared for having a baby.
Of all the stories I've heard from my parents and their friends, my parents were high school cuties. They were dating since high school and they stuck around yet. It was pretty impressive actually. When my mom conceived for me, she and dad were actually at a party. They were both stoned and add 1 and 1 together, they got me. My mom was scared shitless because of her parents. She knew her parents were going to throw her out of their house, so she was to abort me. But then my dad made her understand that if she wanted to continue full term, she should and that he'd be there for her and support her throughout. She then got around the idea of having me.
My mother's baby bump was pretty small and so she could hide it for a couple of weeks. She claimed that she used to wear baggy clothes to make it a little less recognisable. Eventually, when she reached her fourth month, her mother came to know and then her parents disowned her. She, obviously, went to my dad. My dad took her in like he promised and then, they eventually got married. My mom was happy with him and they had no further complications. My dad's parents were fine with me too. They didn't like it in the beginning but they got around. They didn't fuss or throw the couple out of their house though.
Anyways, instead of going into flashbacks, let's get to the present. My dad was right now helping my mom finish off removing dinner so we could watch our movie together. After a couple of minutes, my parents came around and sat on the couch. I played on the TV and Dirty Dancing flashed on the screen.
"Not again, Katty." A brooding little Landon grumbled beside me. He jutted his lip out with a small pout making me giggle. Landon is such a cutie. He hates me calling him cutie since he's 10 now and thinks he's a big boy who shouldn't be called cutie. He insists me on calling him handsome and it's synonyms. But I simply shrug and tell him that I can't lie and laugh at his pouted lips.
"We watched your favourite Transformers last time. Now it's my turn, Lee." I teased casually and went in the kitchen to help my mom get the drinks and popcorn out after pausing the movie. I knew how to cook and I generally did the cooking since my mother worked in a bakery and dad was a pediatrician. He had a clinic of his own but it was located further down, in the outskirts of Brumington. Brumington is the town I stay in. I was born and brought up here. It is located in North America but is more secluded and the population is a mere amount of 2000 people and everyone here knows each other. Not much actually if you compare it with other towns.
