Phil stared for a second, taken aback.
Was this really happening?
Did he actually have a chance?
Of course, this didn't mean that he felt differently about Phil in particular.
For all he knew, Dan could already be dating someone.
"That's really great, Dan," Phil replied, embracing the younger man.
Dan hugged him back, preparing himself for what he was about to say next.
"I kinda have a bit of a crush on someone... But I don't know if they like me back..."
"Oooooh!" Phil cooed like a schoolgirl.
"Oh, shut up."
"Do I know them?"
"Yeah, I would say so."
"What's their name?"
Dan braced himself.
This was the make or break moment.
"Phil Lester."
Phil's jaw dropped.
He had been waiting years to hear those words, and, now that he had, he couldn't believe his ears.
Dan's cheeks turned a dark shade of red.
"I knew you wouldn't like me back in that way. I shouldn't have said anything. I'm sorry."
"No, you don't understand! I do. I really, really do..." Phil responded, tears in his eyes.
"I love you, Dan."
