Chapter 1
Jeff POV
This is it. Today's the day. The day I go to Dalton.
I'm super nervous about it. I mean, at least at my old school I knew where all my classes were and all the best places to hide from the bullies. Not that any of those places were actually effective...
But my anxiety was skyrocketing today. New school. New people. New bullies.
It's funny because the whole reason I'm switching schools is because of the bullies. Dad got tired of getting calls from the school that I'd gotten beat up. He kept telling me to man up, but I'm too scared. And my principal suggested he put me in Dalton Academy because apparently they have a no bullying policy.
Schools have rules. But that doesn't mean they're actually enforced.
I didn't exactly have high hopes for Dalton. I was pretty much just expecting the same thing as my old school, just with different people.
"Jeffrey! Get down here!" My dad yelled.
I got up from my bed and walked downstairs, feeling a bit nervous. Dad is always unpredictable. Especially if he's drunk.
I walked into the kitchen. Dad was sitting at the counter.
"Are you packed for Dalton?"
I nodded.
"We're leaving in 30 minutes. I know you already know this, but I feel like I need to tell you anyway. I expect 85's or higher in your classes. I don't want any calls from your teachers, saying you're falling behind. If I do, you'll be in big trouble because I know you know better, and I expect you to work hard. I'm paying a lot for you to go to Dalton, so don't waste my money by getting crappy grades."
"Yes, dad..."
I stared down at my feet, feeling slightly embarrassed. I'm bad at school. It's just so hard for me to understand everything. It's not that I don't study, because I do! A lot! I just have trouble...
"I'll be picking you up to take you home most weekends. So don't think you're getting out of any of your chores or anything."
I nodded.
"Ok, you're free to go. But be ready to go soon."
"Yes, dad..."
I went back upstairs, and flopped down on my bed. I didn't sleep much last night because I've been so anxious about today. And I'm exhausted.
There's no way I'm taking a nap and risking being late though.
I unzipped my suitcase and checked over everything I packed. I don't want to forget anything. Dalton is about an hour away, and dad's not going to want to bring me something I forgot.
I had packed some clothes, pjs, a jacket, school supplies, shoes, toiletries, and that was basically it. That's all I had room for in my suitcase.
I waited around in my bedroom, and then went downstairs when it was time to go. I put my suitcase in the back of dad's car, and then got in. And dad started driving me to Dalton Academy.
Later...
Nick POV
"So are you excited?" Trent asked.
"For what?" I asked.
"For your new roommate of course!"
"Oh uh... I guess... I mean... I liked having a dorm to myself. I just hope he's nice. If I get someone like Sebastian, I'll be so mad..."
