Chapter 11

Middle of the night...

Jeff POV

I woke up, screaming. I felt so scared, and I had no idea where I was. And it was pitch black. I was just so confused.

But almost instantly, a light went on, and I saw Nick.

"What happened?" He asked.

"I just... I had a bad dream. I don't know. I forgot where I was, and I just got kind of scared..." I mumbled, embarrassed.

"Jeff, I'm so sorry. I forgot to leave the bathroom light on. You don't like the dark. I forgot."

"It's ok. I just got scared for a second..."

I climbed out of bed and went over to Nick.

"What are you doing?" He asked, smiling a little.

"I need a hug."

"Oh."

I sat down next to Nick, and wrapped my arms around him. He did the same, and I sighed happily.

"You're like the most amazing person I've ever met," I mumbled into his shoulder.

"What?"

"You don't make fun of me for getting scared. You're nice to me, and you give hugs to help me feel better."

"Well... Of course. I wouldn't make fun of you for anything. I just want you to feel as comfortable as possible. I know how it feels to get made fun of, Jeff. And it sucks."

"Wait, what? You've never told me... You know how it feels? You got made fun of?"

"Yeah, that's why I'm here. The no bullying policy."

"Wait. What happened?"

"Well... I used to get teased for having braces. And this one time I tried to stand up for myself, and I sort of got beat up. It was near the end of the school year though, so I just stayed to finish class. But then for the next grade, my parents put me here."

"Does everyone here have a past like this?"

"No... A lot of people transferred here because they got bullied, like me, you, and Trent. But David goes here because his parents are rich and they wanted him to go to a private school. I bet that's why Sebastian's here too. He seems like he comes from a family of rich snobs."

"Who cares? I hate him."

I laid down next to Nick.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm comfy here."

"Jeff," he whined.

"Please let me stay. I'm sleepy and I want to stay here in case I get scared again."

"Fine."

Nick shut the light off, and laid down next to me.

"Nick..."

"What?"

"It's dark..."

"Jeff, we're fine. Go turn the bathroom light on if you need to."

"No... I don't want to move."

"Well you're safe here, so just try to go to sleep."

"Fine..."

I shut my eyes, but everything just seemed extra scary.

"Nick," I whined.

"Jeff, come on. Let me sleep."
