Chapter 20

Thursday...

Jeff POV

I was so glad it was Thursday. We have no school tomorrow or Monday, and I get to go home with Nick!

We were in our last class of the day. There were 10 minutes left, and I couldn't stop staring at the clock.

Finally, the bell rang. I followed Nick to his locker so he could put his books away.

"We get to go to your house! I'm so excited! Let's go!" I said, bouncing up and down.

"Calm down. We still have to go get our suitcases and stuff."

We went to our dorm together.

"Ok, let's go!" I whined.

"Jeff, chill. Let me change out of my uniform."

"Ugh!"

I flopped down on my bed. Nick grabbed a change of clothes, and went to go change in the bathroom. I decided I would change too because I was tired of wearing my uniform. I changed into some sweatpants and a sweatshirt.

"Nick, hurry up!" I whined.

Finally Nick was done, and we walked out to the parking lot with our suitcases.

"Is she here yet?" I asked.

"No, she just texted me and said she's like 5 minutes late."

"No!"

Nick grabbed my hand.

"Calm down."

I sighed, and pouted at him.

"Oh, stop that. Why are you so excited anyways?"

"Because all I've ever wanted in life was to live in a home where it's not scary. This is like my lifelong dream, Nick."

"I didn't realize that's what this was about. I'm sorry, Jeff."

"It's ok. I'm just happy to go to your house. I need a break from being stressed."

His mom pulled up, so we got in the back next to each other.

"Hey, boys. How was school?"

"It was fine, but Jeff and I are both ready to have a break for a few days."

"How are you doing, Jeff?"

"I'm ok. Thanks for letting me come with Nick."

"Of course, honey."

I started to realize how tired I was. I laid my head on Nick's shoulder and listened to him talk to his mom about school.

And I fell asleep before we got there.

Later...

Nick POV

"Jeff, wake up. We're here," I said, shaking him.

"Too tired."

I rolled my eyes.

"Come on. Get up."

I opened the car door and got out. I got our suitcases out of the trunk, and Jeff finally got out too.

I brought him up to my bedroom, and we set down our suitcases.

"I love your house."

"Why? It's small."

"It's cozy and it feels like a home."
