Chapter 2

Later...

Jeff POV

I was having the hardest time falling asleep. I was exhausted, but I was so nervous that I just couldn't get myself to fall asleep.

First of all, it was pitch black in here. I absolutely hate the dark. And second, I was so nervous for tomorrow. I'm so scared that it'll be just like my old school. People will tease me and bully me... And I'll get hurt...

I kept turning over in bed, trying to get comfortable. But I couldn't. I felt wide awake even though I was exhausted.

I sat up in bed, and tried to get my eyes to focus. But it was so dark, I couldn't even see my hand in front of my face. The only thing I could see was the light coming in from under our door. I guess the hall lights are always on.

I quietly got up from bed and left our room. I sat down in the hall next to our room, and pulled my knees to my chest. I don't really know what to do. I can't sleep, and I'd rather be out here than in the dark.

I rested my chin on my knees, and closed my eyes. I wasn't intending on sleeping, but I fell asleep anyways.

Morning...

Nick POV

When I woke up, Jeff was gone. I didn't hear an alarm or anything, so I was confused as to how he disappeared without me knowing.

I got dressed in my uniform and got ready. And then I got a text from David.

"I think Jeff's asleep outside your dorm."

I was confused.

I walked over to the door and opened it. I stepped out and saw Jeff sitting on the ground, asleep.

Now I'm really confused.

I knelt down beside him, and shook his shoulder gently, trying not to knock him over.

"Jeff?"

When he woke up, he flinched away from me.

"What are you doing out here?" I asked.

"Um... I-I don't really know..."

"It's almost time for school. You should get ready."

Jeff stood up quickly and walked into our dorm. Did he get locked out last night or something? Why'd he go out there in the first place?

I walked back into our room too, and made sure I had everything I needed in my backpack. I also wanted to wait for Jeff because I think he wanted me to walk him to class.

A few minutes later, Jeff walked out of the bathroom, holding his tie.

"C-could you tie this for me?" He asked, his cheeks flushing red.

"Yeah. I'll teach you how to do it later. It's easy."

I took his tie and tied it for him.

"Ready for breakfast?" I asked.

He nodded.

I led him to the cafeteria. We got breakfast, and then sat with Trent and David again. Since Jeff made us a little bit late, we didn't have much time to eat. And then we had to go to class.

Later...

Nick POV

I think Jeff's first day went pretty well. I walked him to every class. And since we have assigned seats based on our roommates, he sat next to me in every class. So he was by my side practically all day.
