Early September
"Come on Vivi, just audition and see what happens!"
The last three weeks had passed with Summer constantly trying to force me to audition for Bighit which Summer then realised was BTSs management. So now she just wants me to do it even more.
"We could even meet BTS!"
I rolled my eyes "you know that's really unlikely, even if I get in, they're going on a world tour soon,"
"So are you going to do it?"
And once again I had been persuaded. The practicing had begun.
I might not have mentioned before but I sing a lot of songs in Korean as I am half Korean, from my mothers side.
"I think you should sing the same song you were singing at the shopping centre,"
"Okay, I don't really have anything else ready anyway,"
That day I emailed the guy and asked him about audition dates. He replied almost instantly and told me to come the following week.
"The place is so far," I moaned and moaned but Summer was adamant that I go to this audition.
Audition Day
"Wake up! We have exactly one hour to leave the house!"
I opened one eye and saw a fully dressed and ready Summer standing on my bed.
"Oh my God, it's 5am,"
"We don't have time, come on I got all your clothes ready for you!"
Reluctantly I got up and out of bed and got dressed.
And soon enough we were in the car going on a two and a half hour journey.
We got there exactly 15 minutes before my audition time.
When we walked into the building, a tall, extremely thin lady was standing there with a clipboard in hand.
"Um hi I'm here for an audition, my name is Vivian Black,"
She looked me up and down for a good minute as if to say she didn't believe someone like me could really be auditioning.
"Vivian Black, at 9am, you may wait in here,"
She pointed us into a room and a few minutes later she was back and led me into a concert hall.
"Hello, Vivian Black, how nice to see you again!"
It was the same guy D, he jumped out of his seat with an extremely excited face.
He came up to me, gave me a hug and said "I believe in you," so quietly that I couldn't even tell if he had actually said it or I had imagined it.
I walked on the stage to the piano and sat down. With a deep breath and a pounding heart, I started.
Once the song had finished I was told to go back to the waiting area again. I waited for what felt like years and was called back in. What a long and painful procedure was all I could think.
"Okay take a seat Vivian,"
I sat down on the seat that he was pointing to.
"We have a few questions for you. Firstly, are you able to sing any song in Korean?"
"Yes"
"Would you be willing to travel in order to perform?"
"Um, yes"
"Okay, so do you know BTS?"
"Yes"
"Well, have you heard about their would tour starting in a few weeks?"
"Yes, I have,"
"Great. We really enjoyed your performance and we think that one day you could be a k-pop idol. So we would like to give this to you,"
He passed me a thick book.
"We want you to learn the first 7 songs in this book, and we would like you to be BTS s opening act,"
My mouth dropped open and no words were able to come out...
