Zayn,
Your base hasn’t contacted us to say anything has happened, so it’s making out like you’re ignoring us. Why would you do that? We have we done wrong?
This isn’t fair on any of us. There’s no excuses for any of this. It can’t take you this long to get a stamp, or for you to write a second letter if it got lost.
Whatever you’re doing out there you need to get your head straight, because this isn’t funny anymore. Not anymore.
Niall.

~sixteen days back~
‘EVERYONE GET DOWN!’ I heard Dan shout, but only faintly.
Bangs from explosions and gun shots and screams and shouts filled my ears, blocking out the orders from my team and the general. Smoke billowed up around me, the ground dry and sandy, tiny pieces of rock and burning ashes showered down on me from the smoke, and caught into my hair.
I spun on my heel, my gun held tightly in my hands, trying to catch a glimpse of anyone around me; friend or foe. Another explosion went off in the background, its sounds weak, but the ground still shook beneath me.
I felt someone’s hand rest on my shoulder, and I turned to face them, shoving my gun in their face, ‘I-I’ll shoot!’ I threatened and they raised their two hands like they were surrendering, but they were laughing.
I lowered my gun, and the face behind the gadget was Maz, I grinned at him, ‘Sorry, bud’
I picked his gun up from the floor not too far away and slung the strap over his shoulder, placing his hands in the right places to hold it, his finger laying lightly on the trigger.
‘Come on, the others are somewhere over there’ he informed me, jerking his head to the side. I nodded and he began to move but I stopped him and embraced him into a hug.
‘What was that for?’ he asked, after pulling his arms out from around me.
‘Because you’ve been the best thing I could have asked for out here, and theres a load of bombs going off,’ I smirked, ‘and that was just so you know in case we die’
‘Oh’ he raised his eyebrows, ‘Well thanks, and way to motivate’
I laughed and followed him out of the smoke. It burned my eyes, and it blocked my view, the air was thick and made it hard to breath. I started to cough, as did Maz, but I started to make out dim figures in the distance.
‘The team!’ I shouted over the loud gun shots, and we ran towards them, and joined the back of the line.
‘More explosions are gonna go off soon!’ Dan yelled at us all, straining his voice so he could be heard, ‘We need to get back to the base while we can, it’s not safe out here!’
He lead us from where we standing, to the North, obviously knowing which way to go to get back to the base.
A loud bang echoed through my eyes, and everything stopped. We all stopped still, and looked around obliviously. I stared up and across at the sky, unable to see half of it. Smoke blocked half of it out, it turned orange as it floated upwards. The battlefield was quiet. After the one bang, nothing happened, but we didn’t run, something was waiting.
The ground started to tremor, only slightly, but I could feel it moved. Maz grabbed onto my arm and I looked up at him, but he was staring out into the distance, squinting, as if to try and make something out in this smoke.
