"Let go, Nana." But he didn't listen. He tightened his grip on dane's wrist.
"I said let go!" Jaemin looked at her face. Her eyes were glaring back. Everything was complicated for the both of them.
Nana took a deep breath before letting his words flow out of his mouth.
"What are you doing here, dane?" Dane felt her heart sank with the tone of his voice. His voice, his hair, and those eyes. She missed all of it but it's painful to see him like this. It's as if he was damn frustrated with her showing up all of a sudden. His eyes were burning like wild flames. Dane was too dumbfounded to even say a word.
"Are you going to run away again after this?" His tone was sarcastic. Dane remained silent. His words were like arrows piercing deep inside of her head.
All she ever wanted was to bury her face in his chest and hug him tightly just like before. Tell him how much she missed his kisses that can cure and take any type of pain.
Unfortunately, everything changed. All that's left is for her to accept the consequences of her choices. She screwed everything up.
His shoulders dropped. Dane looked up and met his eyes. Her expression changed when jaemin looked deep in her puffy orbs. One step forward, one step backward. Dane wanted to run away when jaemin moved closer pinning her against the wall.
"W-what are you doing?" Her words were shaking.
" you can't just barge in and then leave me hanging again. No more running away. This time you're staying with me. Run and I'll have to chase you over and over again if I have to."
His voice was now composed. He moved his face closer and scanned dane's pale face. Her eyes were shaking with the way he looked at her. It pains him to see how sick and lifeless her complexion looked. Renjun was right. Dane looked thin and Ill. Was she not eating well for the past 2 years? thats what popped inside of his head. He wondered if her ruthless father was treating her like crap again. He wanted to punch a wall just by thinking of how dane suffered.
Jaemin wanted to take every bit of pain dane had. He was aware of what she was going through. He is the anchor. The one that's capable of calming the waves that were crashing inside of her.
She tried to escape but jaemin grabbed her hand once again. This time, he pulled her towards him. Giving her a warm hug. The warmth of an angel is now wrapping her.
The scent of nana made her tears fall down completely. Escaping is pointless for the both of them. She wished for everything to just go smoothly but the thought of ruining everything made her feel anxious.
"Dane, why must you let yourself suffer like this?" He whispered softly. 'But I have no choice.' Dane remembered the time she met up with jaemin's company. The day that everything shattered completely. Jaemin still has no idea of what happened 2 years ago and Dane's not planning on telling him either.
"Let's not make things hard for us, nana. You're doing well now. You're dreams are finally coming true." She showed a bitter smile.
"Just stay. Stay with me this time. Can you please do that for me?" Jaemin didn't wanna let go this time. He was willing to do everything to make Dane stay.
Her heart was like being twisted when he asked her to stay. Dane really did wanted to stay so badly.
"I can't st—"
She stopped talking when Jaemin planted a kiss on her forehead.
"What do I have to do to make you stay?"
"D-don't make this hard for me. Everything's better without me in the picture."
"The hell with that! Ever since you walked out on me, it felt like everything was falling apart. You're hurting me badly, dane. So don't say that. My life's better with you in it." He tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. His warm hands held her cheek.
Those words made her feel the same old feeling of being safe. Jaemin made her feel safe.
An anchor begging for a destructive person to stay seemed odd for dane. She felt like she was dragging nana in her own misery. She was glad that the person she loved so dearly is now working hard to reach his dream. She can't barge in his life now that he's close to reaching that dream.
"We can't be together." Nana's shoulders dropped. He felt stupid for convincing her. It made him feel like dane was genuinely sick of him. That she wanted to let go.
"Why can't we be together, then?" He asked.
"Because you're too hard for me to reach. You always have and always will be." She wiped her tears and turned her back on him once again.
