It was nearing midnight when the tall, thin girl pried open her bedroom window open, proceeding to silently climb out into the night. Behind her was a shorter, tan girl with a rather cute and disheveled look about her, though  looking closer, one could see the mischievous look of adventure on her face. In absolute silence the two girls snuck out back. Using the trash cans out back, the taller of the two shimmied her way up the one-stories house. The other girl quickly followed, her friend lending a helping hand. Helping hoist her friend onto the slanted roof, the girls crept across, careful not to fall. The taller of the two lead her friend across the roof, still not letting go of her hand.

Cass and Selena, or Star and Moon as they had nicknamed each other, laid down on their backs and gazed up at the brilliant night sky. They lived a fair ways away from the bright city lights, and the view was amazing.

Nobody quite understood their friendship, except for the fact that it seemed to be indestructible. Cass and Selena both felt strongly for each other and cared deeply about one another's well being. They would do anything for each other. Both have the memories of time-outs, visits to the principal's office bruises, and the occasional fight to prove it. But that didn't matter to them, not right now. It was the summer of 1991. The two laid on their backs, basking in the absolute glory of the stars above them.

"Moon. Promise me something." Cassiopeia broke the silence, arms behind her head as support whilst she gazed in wonder at the constellations above her.

"Promise me that we will always be friends. No matter what life throws our way." She whispered, turning to look at her friend, who met the cerulean gaze.

"I promise."

In the light of the moon and stars, two girls with corresponding names crossed their hearts and hoped to die in a promise to stay together no matter what, and to always come back to each other in times of peril. And they would. Throughout seven years of crazy, and the two stuck together like they would perish if they were apart. This is the story of those two girls. Two girls, seemingly opposites. Quiet and loud, careful and impulsive, snake and lion.   Throughout the hectic years that were coming up, the two girls, complex in their own ways would learn to live and learn to love both themselves and each other. Cassiopeia Jamie Wilson and Selena Catherine Allen. Together until the very end.
