"Ready or not... here I come!"

Selena crouched in her new hiding spot, heart pounding in her chest. Hide n' seek always got her excited.

Ever since they unexpectedly moved houses, they've dedicated all their time to exploring their new home.

Madame Violet informed them that her grandfather had passed, but he was very wealthy, like the rest of her family. The only reason Madame Violet had little was because her family hated her. Except for her grandfather. And when he passed, he left it all to his favorite granddaughter. But Selena and Cass never found out why Madame Violet's family started hating her.

"Selena.... I know you're in here.."

Cass was in the room. Selena tucked as much of her body into her hiding spot as possible and held her breath, hoping her pounding heartbeat wouldn't give her away.

Footsteps, soft against the carpet we're nearing her.

The closet door swung open! Cass bent over and began rooting through the stuff on the ground.

Seemingly giving up, she turned around and shut the door, leaving Selena in silence.

The closet had a rack above the hangers, which the girl expertly climbed up to and hid herself behind a stack of blankets and old photo albums. Cass didn't even think to look up there.

Minutes passed, and Selena passed the time by drawing on her arm, which was hard because of how dark it was.

Finally, they heard a timer go off.

Triumphantly, Selena sat and waited for the call.

"SELENA! YOU CAN COME OUT NOW!!" Shouted Madame Violet.

With a grin on her face, Selena kicked the door open and pounced onto the bed outside of the closet. Making sure everything was the way she left it, she happily walked to the foyer, where Cass was sitting.

In their household, Hide n' Seek had an extensive rule set. They always counted for exactly two minutes, they always set a timer for thirty minutes , and they always played without help from others, such as finding a hiding place or searching for other hiders. That way, nobody got an unfair advantage or disadvantage. Plus, hiders who have been caught can't tattle. The most important rule of all was that when the thirty minute timer was up, the seeker had to cover their eyes and go back to the counting spot, the foyer, so the hider's hiding spot stayed hidden.

They took Hide n' Seek very seriously.

"Merlin, how are you so good at this game?" Moaned Cass.

"What can I say, I'm talented." Bragged Selena, causing Cass to scoff.
"Yeah, and I'm a Professor."

"You could be one day. Ooh! Or Headmaster! Well, Headmistress."

"What? No way." Cass scoffed.

"Girls! Dinner's ready in five!" Came a shout from the kitchen.

"Five seconds?" Selena joked back, taking her seat at the counter next to Cass.

Smiling, Madame Violet served the girls their dinners, lasagna and garlic bread.

"Some mail came in the post for you today."

"Owl or regular?"

"Owl. You each got one from Ron and Hermione. I'll give it to you after dinner."

"Nothing from Harry?"

"Sorry kids, he hasn't responded."

"Thanks Madame Violet."
