Chapter Cuarto
I sat in my room, enjoying an ice cream cone and listened to Adam Lambert on the stereo, jamming out like it was my last day on Earth. What? I like my Lambert! He’s sexy!
As I finished my amazing frozen scoop of wonderful epicness, I skipped a sad song and started to jam out to his next song, ‘If I Had You’.
“But if I had you; that would be the only thing I'd ever need! Yeah if I had you, then money, fame and fortune never could compete. If I had you, life would be a party it'd be ecstasy! Yeah if I had you –,” as soon as the chorus left my lips, I was pointing in some random direction and the door opened.
“I’m quite flattered you think that, but don’t you think it’s a little too early to try to announce your love for me over the CD playing?” he asked, and I noticed that I was, indeed, pointing at him. I dropped my hand instantly and turned off the CD player before sitting down on my bed.
“What do you want, Angel?” I asked him, playing with a light pink pillow that was laying on my bed, with the words ‘cutie pie’ etched into it.
He looked at me for a moment and shook his head. “You really are flaming gay, huh?” he asked and I smiled widely, nodding quickly. “I came over because my parents are throwing a house warming party, and wanted me to invite your family. Your mom already said yes, she wanted me to inform you though, because she left with Gloria to go shopping for food,” he said.
I gapped at him and covered my mouth. “You call your mommy by her name?!” I asked and got to my feet, and standing in front of him curiously. “Does she get upset? Why do you do that? Is she not your real mom? Oh my GAWD! She’s not your real mom, huh? I’m so sorry for asking!” I said to him quickly and he smirked, clearly amused at my reaction.
“No, she’s my real mother. David and I just call her Gloria, and we also call our father Rick,” he shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal. “So do you want to come over, or not?” he asked me.
I thought for a moment, and looked around my room for something better to do than just sit around and sip soda for a few hours. I shrugged and sighed, seeing nothing. Even though I had homework I had to do from that past week, I didn’t want to do it yet. I’m a procrastinator! “Sure I guess,” I smiled weakly and walked over to grab my hoodie.
“You won’t need that. Just grab some swimming trunks… or whatever you wear to swim, and I’ll meet you over there. You can change here, or there, it doesn’t matter,” he smiled and then left.
I stared at the door for a good five minutes before moving over to my drawers and pulling out my neon pink and green swimming shorts. I definitely wasn’t going to change there; I don’t trust Angel one bit, so I stripped from my clothing and slipped the tight shorts on.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror and smiled before throwing on a pair of basketball shorts over the neon and walked out of my house.
I looked at the house across the street from me, and smiled. Tons of people seemed to go to the party, making it seem like one hell of an event. I skipped my way over and knocked on the door. David answered and raised an eyebrow. “Wow, I didn’t think I’d ever see you without skinny jeans,” he said, shaking his head.
I smiled and shrugged. “What can I say? I’m just full of surprises,” I smiled and walked into the house. There seemed to be tons of kids running around, most of them being David’s age. I saw a few adults that were in their twenties and a lot more people that looked about as old as my mommy. “Where’s your brother?” I asked him.
He smiled and pointed towards the kitchen. “He’s out back talking to some of his friends from back in town, they should be in the pool,” he said and started to run around with the smaller kids.
I walked out to the back yard and smiled, seeing the green grass, pool and large guest house for the first time. “Hey! Baby Jay! Come here, meet a few of my friends,” I heard Angel’s voice called out to me. I turned to see them all in the pool. Most of them looked like they were jocks and could beat the shit out of me, some of them seemed to look a little… scene, with their raccoon tails and whatnot.
I walked over slowly and met them at the edge of the pool, rubbing the back of my neck and biting my lower lip; I’ve never felt so nervous in my life! “Guys, this is Baby Jay, or Jay if you will. Baby Jay, this is Carlie, Ariel, Sammy, Joseph and Gerard,” he smiled as he pointed to the teenagers. Carlie and Sammy seemed to be the only sport players. Sammy had huge muscles, while you could see the muscles and build on Carlie, even though she’s a girl.
“Hey!” they all greeted me and I immediately perked up. “Come on in, Baby Jay, the water’s warm,” Ariel said and I nodded.
I wasn’t ashamed of who I was, so I stripped from my basketball shorts, gaining a few raised eyebrows. They all turned to Angel for answers, and he just shrugged before pulling me into the water.
We all talked a horsed around for about an hour and a half, but then my mommy and Gloria came back, saying that it was time for us to get out so the littler kids could get in.
So now, we sat in Angel’s room, wrapped in towels and shivering. “So, Baby Jay, um, are you gay or what?” Carlie asked, trying not to sound rude, I could tell.
I smiled and nodded at her as an answer, and she nodded in return, seeming to ponder that. As she thought about it, Ariel sat up quickly and grabbed my arm. “Oh my gosh! We should totally become best friends!” she smiled hugely.
I looked at her for a moment, her deep green eyes were a dead giveaway that she was related to Angel. I shook my head a little. “Sorry, I already have a best friend named Emmie,” I told her. “We’re BFF’s,” I grinned.
After about twenty minutes of mindless talking, one of the few people in the room, one of the guys I think, suggested we drink a little.
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Sammy,” Ariel said, eyeing him suspiciously.
Sammy rolled his eyes and smiled, getting to his knees and grabbing a bag from a corner. “Come on, guys, I got some good stuff from my father’s liquor cabinet.”
He pulled out a big bottle of vodka, and sat it in the middle of the rest of us. We all just seemed to stare at it for a moment, and Ariel glared up at Sammy. “You know how much trouble you’ll get in for taking our fathers’ liquor?” she nearly growled; and it was the first time I realized how similar they looked. Huh.
Sammy shrugged and smiled. “You guys don’t care right? I mean, it’s only a couple of shots, nothing more,” he smiled and turned to each one of us, waiting for our small nods of approval.
I swallowed loudly when he got to me. I got quiet when I came across people that drank and did drugs. It’s not that I didn’t like the person themselves, but I didn’t want them to influence me. “Baby Jay?” Ariel questioned, hoping that I’d be on her side.
I looked up and shot a glance at the people in the room before smiling lightly. I didn’t want to be seen as a wimp. “Sure, I’m down,” I gave them a fake grin and heard Ariel sigh beside me.
Looking up at Angel, I noticed that maybe I did make the wrong decision, because he looked like he was in deep thought, looking almost regretful. “Alright, well, we’re going to play a game then,” Carlie smirked and pulled out some cards of the same bag. She laid the cards down in the middle and looked at everyone. “We’re playing Kings Cup, alright?” she smirked.
I swallowed. I hated card games, I always losed!
