Chapter 36 - Confession

(POV Ava)

Maagap pa lang ay dumating na si Inspector Desmond Romulo sa safehouse na may dalang breakfast. He advised us na makakadalaw na si Adrien sa burol ng daddy niya as the whole perimeter is already secured, but his face does not look delighted.

"Adrien, I have some good news and a bad news for you," sabi ni Inspector Romulo habang nag-aalmusal kami.

"By the look on your face, it does not look like a good news. Go ahead, ninong."

"Adrien, we have already arrested your father's killer."

Nagkatinginan lang kami ni Adrien. If the killer is already captured, this is indeed a good news, pero tulad nga ng sabi ni Adrien, Inspector Romulo does not look happy with this news.

"Sino ang pumatay kay daddy?" tanong ni Adrien.

"Lucia Salvador. She admitted her crimes last night. She is the one who killed Enrique," mahinang sabi ni Inspector Romulo.

"What? It does not make sense! Manang Lucia is the last person who will hurt daddy!"

"Si Lucia mismo ang naglagay ng wine sa office ng daddy mo. The same wine with the Blackwater poison," sagot ni Inspector Romulo as he showed us the video of Manang Lucia.

May hawak siyang wine at iniwan niya ito sa loob ng office ni daddy. This is the video that was mysteriously deleted, pero ngayon ay bigla namang lumitaw.

"Ninong, we have several stocks of daddy's wine! Paano kung may contaminated na ng poison ang wine na yan at hindi alam ni Manang Lucia?"

"Adrien, she already confessed her sins."

Hindi ko inaasahan na si Manang Lucia ang pumatay kay Enrique Lorenzo. Hindi ko din alam kung bakit siya umamin sa ginawa niyang kasalanan. Her guilt is probably consuming her.

"But why would she kill dad? Saan siya kukuha ng pera para mag hire ng isang first rate hacker at assassins. This is ridiculous!"

"Apparently, Lucia has been stealing money from your father's office. I am talking about loads of cash money. Matagal na niyang mahal ang daddy mo, but your father can't love her back. It is a crime of passion and revenge."

"It does not explain why she would like to kill me too? Anak ang turing sa akin ni Manang Lucia!"

"Inamin niya na galit ang nararamdaman niya sa tuwing makikita ka niya. Adrien, you look so much like your father. You reminded her so much of your father's younger years."

"This is unbelievable! Manang Lucia killed daddy? That woman loves our family so much! She is like my second mother! Anong nag trigger sa kanya para gawin ang mga bagay na ito?" naiiyak na sabi ni Adrien.

"It is a mystery that I want to uncover," seryosong sagot ni Inspector Romulo.

I hugged Adrien as I can feel his pain. It is like he was betrayed by someone he truly trusts. Even Inspector Romulo can't seem to believe this revelation, pero umamin na si Manang Lucia.

She even showed the copy of the transactions when she purchased the Blackwater poison. Natagpuan din sa kwarto niya ang isang bag na naglalaman ng daang libong pera.

"Where is she? I want to talk to her," humihikbi na sabi ni Adrien.

"Nasa detention center si Lucia. She requested na walang kahit anong visitors na pwedeng kumausap sa kanya. I am sorry, Adrien. You can't meet her."

"Anong sabi ng mommy?"

"She was angry, of course. But your mother has a gentle heart. Nangibabaw pa rin ang pagmamahal niya kay Manang Lucia. She wants to make sure that Manang Lucia will receive a special treatment in detention center dahil kayo na lang ang pamilya ni Manang Lucia."

"Ninong, please hire a psychiatrist to assess Manang Lucia. She must be suffering from a depression or a psychological condition kung bakit niya ito nagawa. The Manang Lucia that I know will never hurt my father. We are missing something here."

Tumango lang sa amin si Inspector Romulo. Hindi niya maitatago ang pangamba sa mukha niya. I have a feeling na hindi pa dito natatapos ang murder case ni Enrique Lorenzo.

The same morning, dumalaw si Adrien sa burol ng kanyang daddy. He is in pain because of his father's death, but he is also agonizing dahil pinakamalapit na tao sa puso niya ang pumatay sa daddy niya...
