HOMECOMING

Auren is excited to see her grandmother. It's been 1 year since the last she saw her. She really wanted to visit her but she's stuck with her studies and thesis. Auren took Veterinary Medicine in Sul Ross State University and she's now on her final semester.

After the death of her parents, she drowned herself with her studies. Their death took a tool to her and since that unfortunate day, she never bothers to go out or even talk to her friends. Up until now, that painful event is still fresh on her mind. Every time she looks at she can see in her reflection how her mother looks like. Her small nose, pink lips, her brows, and her heart-shaped face is similar to her mom except her green eyes which she inherited from her dad.

Arriving from the airport, she rode a taxi to Argusville where her grandmother lives. She will stay there for 6 months to work on her thesis.

The driver dropped her in front of her Grandmother's place and the door opens as soon as she pressed the doorbell.

"Nana!" She hugged her grandmother tightly.

"My dear, I've missed you so much. Come inside and bring your luggage upstairs. I know that you'll arrive today so I already have your room clean." Her grandmother said while patting her back. It feels great to be home. She missed Argusville and she missed her dog.

"Nana, where is Sunny?" she asked the old woman.

"She's in your room. Go and check her upstairs, I know she missed you too." The old woman smiled sweetly and kissed her granddaughter's forehead.

Auren carried her luggage to her room and as soon as she opens the door her dog jumped on her and showered her kisses.

"Hey, buddy. How are you? I've missed you so much." She hugged her dog and patted it on the head. "I'll just unpack my luggage. We'll have a walk later, okay?" She talked to her dog and she received a gentle bark from it.

"Auren, darling?" She heard a soft knock and opened the door to let her grandmother in. The old woman sat on her bed and looked up to her.

By looks of her grandmother's face, she knew that there is something she wanted to discuss. "Do you want to talk about something?" Auren asked blindly.

"Do you remember the time when you told me that you wanted to join in the choir?" she replied.

"Hmmm, that was two years. I was surprised that you still remember it, Nana." Auren smiled and patted her grandmother's hand.

"Well, I kind of disclosed that to Father Rex." The old woman admitted.

She frowned "And what did he said?"

"He said that he will do the screening tomorrow night at 7 pm."

"Really? I thought Mrs. Greene is the one in charge of the screening. "

"Mrs. Greene went to New Jersey so she can't do it so I asked Father Rex if he can do it himself."

"Father Rex..... Hmmm. I haven't heard of him before."

"He's a new priest darling. He's just here a couple of months ago."

"I see. When would that be again?"

"That's tomorrow night, 7 pm. He told me that you will meet him at the altar."
