Gwen's POV

As soon as I'm in the building I get to work. Doctor Arwik is out today, he had to take some personal time off from all the work. I type up my paper on bio-chemical compounds and run some tests on different DNA mixtures.

Nearly two hours later Logan shows up.

"How was your first real rehearsal?" I ask him.

"Don't ask. I was trying so hard to be the best that I could be, but I was distracted by Giselle making googly eyes at Luke," he grunted.

"I'm sorry about that," I say, but he doesn't answer.

After work, instead of taking two bus's and a taxi, Logan drove me home. It was nice not having to wait for the bus or tracking down a taxi. When we arrived, Logan and I looked at each other for the tip of the day.

"Practice, practice, practice. If she see's that you are really good it'll impress her, you'll have her full attention," I lecture.

"Talk to him."

"What?" I am taken back by this.

"Your next step is to start talking to him. Get to be even just a little familiar with each other," he states.

"You, my friend, are a mad person," I say as I get out the car. As I walk to my door I hear him yell after me.

"Why won't you just take a stand?!" He shouts. I turn around in anguish.

"Excuse me, but you know why! I can't do it, I'm too shy," I say.

"You must not really like him!" he yells, "because if you did you would at least try, but you don't have the guts to even do that!" I'm like a deer in headlights. I don't know what to say so I just turn around and run inside.

I reach my room and tears flood from my eyes. He doesn't understand! I climb out my bedroom window and on to the fire escape. I sit there and cry for a while until I hear a voice.

"Though day, huh?" I look up and it's Luke. Luke is on the fire escape above me, looking down with his wonderful eyes. I feel pathetic.

"I just got into an argument, that's all," I say wiping my tears away.

"Gwen, right?" he asks. I can't believe it, he remembers my name!

"Yeah, that's me," I say smiling up at him.

"I'm Luke."

"I know who you are. We used to play together when we were little."

"I remember. I wasn't sure if you remembered me though," he explained. I blushed a little and bit my lip. "Why don't you come up here?"

"Why don't you come down?" I teased him.

"I asked first," he said smiling, "here I'll help you up." He reached his hand down. I trembled a bit as I took it and climbed up.

"Thanks," I say. I can barely look him in the eye. "Why are you out here?" I ask.

"It's nice to get away," he said. We sit in silence for a while. "I don't see you around much anymore."

"I try to lay low," I say, "I don't like people...or talking."

"So do you not like this?" he teased.

"This is fine." I smile.

"You know Gwen, I really don't know you anymore do I."

"I don't know you too well either so we're even."
