He was male. That much she knew.

He smelled like the other two-legs, but she could also smell his wolf part too. He smelled of trees, and the grass beneath her feet, but he had the same sharp undertone in his scent the other two-legs had.

He was strong, she had felt that on him, his body wasn't like hers though, he had a different strength than she did.

He was taller than her too, and his wolf was larger than her too. He could easily overpower her if he had the chance. She doubted though, that he was faster than her.

These woods were hers, she would defend them with everything she had.

Her wolves didn't mind him, they accepted him into their pack, if he was to be a part. She would not have it, this land was hers, her pack's, no stranger with a connection to the two-legs who killed part of her pack would be accepted by her.

Even if his nature called to her, she wouldn't have it. She accepted the fact a long time ago that she'd never take a mate.

She looked around the clearing, her wolves were happy, and content here. The prey was abundant, and with the water flowing through, she had no worries about starvation.

Her pack was growing. In the last week she'd gained 9 wolves. None had mates, and her she-wolves were resilient to their advances.

Her beta's mate was heavy with pups, she had reserved a special area in the den for them, Shirak, his female was getting aggressive, even with her.

The pups among the pack had hit a growth spurt, they stood at her knees now, lanky and awkward. In a few moons time they would either take mates from this pack or move to another.

The young wolves liked to challenge her authority, but she made sure to keep them in check. Soon they would be taken on hunting trips, rabbits and small creatures first before she would let them hunt deer.

These cycles repeat themselves every twelve moons, where the young were born, and they grew up, took mates, became full members of the pack.

It was peaceful.
