Chapter 36: Terrible Trouble

Red lipstick. Black dresses. High heels. You couldn't go wrong with that, right? Within the click of a button, the camera flashed onto our faces and we were giggling like five year olds. I stared at our reflections in the mirror, revealing how short Diana's skirt was and how curly my hair was.

To be honest, the dress I was wearing was a bit out of my comfort zone although it was still longer than Diana’s. I was used to looser and longer clothing but it was okay. After all, it was one of Diana's favourite dresses. The sleeves and upper chest area were lacy so I figured that it was quite expensive. Or at least it looked it.

"Pete better like my outfit," she state with a smirk, "Is it okay?" Automatically, I approved. It was okay. It showed her almost perfect figure really nicely, like how she had fat in all the right places. It was a bit revealing though. Eh, she was the hostess so she was free to do whatever she wanted.

I peered at the clock: 6:47pm.

The first guests would be appearing any minute now.

I allowed myself to remoisten my bottom lip with a simple lick, "So, we have everything laid out right?" She nodded, tugging on my arm until we entered the living room.

There was a white table in the middle of the room, with various drinks, red solo cups and packets of crisps arranged onto it. Diana had planned for the pizza to come around the time before everyone became out of their minds. I wasn't sure why but I figured it was just in the scheme of things to save money, considering she'd brought a lot more food for this but tucked it away in one of the cupboards in the kitchen. She didn’t want too many people feasting without bringing anything.

I was pulled out of my thoughts when there was a knock on the door, signalizing the first guests were here.

The door opened to a well-groomed Pete that was holding a bottle of what seemed to be vodka. Behind him, there were a few of his close mates from school but I never really talked to any of them. Actually, the only interactions between my friendship group and the boys were the fact that my best friend and their alpha male were dating. Other than that, it was safe to say that no one else really talked so I felt a bit awkward. They were all the typical pretty boys that many people saw as God.

We moved aside so that the boys could charge in. Pete pulled Diana closer to him (into a hug and a kiss on the cheek), causing her pale face to go red. It was amazing the effect that he had on her, like how he would always make her tongue tied, conduct electrify and make her become a new person. But it wasn’t a negative thing. Instead, it was something that I admired. True love.

“We’re gonna have a good time tonight, babe,” his eyes were literally twinkling like stars, “Thanks for inviting us and the lads.” He signalled over to the others and I counted there for be five in total.

Bring on this party.

The atmosphere was intense, rather than being awkward like it had been last time. Diana's golden stereo blurted out loud sounds but I could only recollect the lower beats. Every song pretty much sounded the same and everyone looked so similar in the dark. It was expected though because all the very little amount of parties I went to were like that.

We’d been dancing for hours, socializing with people we rarely ever talked to before, which was nice. Plus, there hadn’t been any typical party arguments either. Normally, there was always a couple that argued over something minor. So really, this was near enough perfect.

The only thing that was annoying was the fact that my throat felt so dry. It was either the nerves or the fact that I hadn't drunk anything in hours, seeing as the party started two hours ago. I figured that it was best to retrieve Diana from the dance floor so that she could go get me a drink.
