(A/N: Following my longest chapter, I shall have my shortest. I swear it wasn't intended, also my school laptop is about to be taken away and unless my parents get me a laptop for my birthday on the 16th, I won't be able to update till September-ish. Maybe I could steal my brothers laptop? Anyways have a nice read)
P.O.V - Flashback
It was a muggy summer day, unrelenting rays of sunshine raining down on the earth. She wanted nothing more than to run straight to her cabin, and unleash some sort of cooling spell. But alas, she had to run some errands. She was running low on several ingredients for her latest potion, and it was of the upmost importance that she gathers the supplies quickly. Not to mention, she wanted to get out of this unbearable heat.
She decided to take a shortcut through the darker part of the forest, a path she didn't usually take. She wanted to get home as quickly as possible, and sought the short, shaded path through the unknown. All she wanted was to plop down and waller around in the comfort of her home.
So, she walked through the forest, and kept going...and going...and going-
It seemed never-ending, like she was walking in a circle. She could've sworn she had seen that tree before, and that rock. She had seen it all before, yet whenever she took a different route, she ended up back at the same exact spot.
She tried not to panic, she couldn't be going mad...it was just the heat of the sun, right? She wasn't going crazy, she can't be going crazy.
Right as she was about to scream out in frustration, to rip her hair out and have a mental breakdown, there was a quiet giggle. Almost inaudible as her own thoughts banged against her skull deafeningly, her heart beating in her ears. Nevertheless, it was loud enough to catch her attention, the giggle the only sound she heard from the forest since she entered the unknown.
She snapped her head towards the sound, eyes turning wide as she searched desperately for the culprit. Turning in a tight circle, searching for someone, for something, but there was absolutely nothing.
Maybe I am going mad-
"You aren't going mad love,"
She shrieked, jumping at the deep velvety sound of a man's voice resonating through the quiet space. She wasn't expecting that, the voice was sudden, sounding as though it came from nowhere and everywhere all at the same time. It gently echoed off the trees, its tone carrying almost like a lullaby.
She waited for the voice to speak again, just to make sure she didn't imagine it, that she wasn't insane.
"Are you lost?"
The tone was sultry by nature, honey like tone dripping with underlying clandestine. The lady knew not to trust such a voice, she knew of what creatures lurked in the dark. Those who preyed on the weak, seducing their victims with well selected words. With that thought in mind, she remained silent.
Another giggle resounded through the space, a voice barely above a whisper tickling hot against her ear.
"I asked you a question,"
She whipped around so fast, she nearly twisted herself in her cloak. Although as she looked around, there was no one there. She was completely alone in the small clearing. She narrowed her eyes, still sticking to her vow of silence.
"Not much of a talker, are you?"
Out of the corner of her eye, a few branches swayed, dragging her attention away from where she was boring holes into the bark of a dark oak.
