(A/N: I originally had this chapter and chapter 12 as one, but it was over 3,200 words long. Therefore, I deemed it too long, so I split the two and decided to double upload)
P.O.V – Jungkook
It was early dawn on yet another Sunday, another town service to be held. The whole town seemed to be centered around the church, depending on it like a lifeline. Going to religion for every decision one could make, in fact if the church were to be no more, neither would the town.
If you didn't go to a service, you were interrogated and maybe even shunned. Even the sick and dying were judged for not showing up, it was appalling. Jungkook never really questioned it, he more or less enjoyed seeing the town come together once a week to discuss beliefs and life in their little hamlet. But now, he looked at everything with a varying degree of disdain, avoiding peoples curious touches, their wandering eyes. He's been holed up in his recovering room for so long, he forgot what it was like to socialize, to see the sun in all its "glory". He much preferred his hermit lifestyle, wanting to crawl back into the dark dungeon he now called home.
Jungkook hadn't even stepped out of his room and yet he can already envision it all, all the concerned glances, all the questions. But worst of all, he'll have to brave through the visions, the swimming auras, the suffocating lies and memories that surrounded the townsfolk. Seeing the people he once thought of as amiable and cordial, and now being forced to see the worst in them, to see all the raw and bloodied knuckles, all the late-night secrets. Smell the scent of alcohol wafting off of varying classes of men, hyper aware of the dark spots littering necks of dozens of ladies, the sinful thoughts of all, screaming right into his ear.
He could sense that people were already filing into the chapel, their thoughts muffled, but Jungkook could already feel his headache coming on. A rare annoyance sizzling just below his skin, everything amplified ten-fold.
Jungkook was about ready to escape out of the window, because screw what the town thought of him, he just wanted some peace and quiet. But just when he was about to bolt, the door cracked open, revealing a formally dressed Seokjin. The priest gave him a sympathetic smile, slipping through the small crack in the door frame, and closing the door quietly behind him. Jin's thoughts now becoming soft whispers sneaking their way into Jungkook's mind, driving him further to the brink of insanity.
"How are you doing this morning?"
Jungkook almost didn't hear him, for one of Jin's thoughts were louder than the rest. Volume somewhere between an inside voice and someone bellowing their lungs out. Although it was still muffled with the other, smaller thoughts that still swarmed the others mind.
"Fine,"
One thing about Jin is that he knows when you aren't being honest, he doesn't need powers to know one is lying. Also, the giant dark circles and bags under Jungkook's eyes gave away the fact the other hasn't been sleeping properly. The younger looked exhausted, drained and sapped of his usual childish demeanor.
"You're really bad at lying,"
"Who says I was trying?"
The younger peered up at Jin, not even trying to cover up his obvious annoyance. Jungkook was still in his sleepwear, which consisted of loose pants and absolutely no shirt.
"Is there still pain?"
Jin asked, ignoring the murderous glare the other sported, the serial killer façade looking foreign on Jungkook's face.
"No, I've never felt better, I feel like I can take on the world,"
The youngers tone was venomous, dripping with sarcasm. Both of which wasn't well received by the preacher, who just frowned, his thoughts screaming disappointment.
