Chapter 18: End Party

If you know Michael and me, you know we didn't really make it to our date. We were too...busy.

Stepping into the house and covering a very recently made hickey, I'm greeted by smiling faces of my new friends.

Mable, Danny, and Mary chat away in the kitchen, sipping wine glasses filled with a dark red liquid every now and then. Austin, Blake, Alex and Damien are hanging out in the living room with various snacks and sodas. Chips, fruit, and many other snacks rest on the table, along with a large chocolate cake.

Upbeat music plays quietly in the background while the two of us begin to mingle.

Mable makes a few jokes about my new love mark, making me a flushing mess. Damn this lady. How does she even know?

Danny snidely comments about how loud we get, making Michael grin proudly and me lower my head in embarrassment.

Mary wishes us both luck in her usual emotionally detached way. It's quite the odd sight.

And, our friends make dirty jokes, just like all friends do, making me feel thankful for them and the normalcy of it.

"You know that, just because this is over, doesn't mean you won't still have problems," Blake warns me quietly. His eyebrows are pinched together in an adorable look of worry.

I nod at him slowly, watching Michael and Damien try to put each other in headlocks. "I know that people won't approve, and I know that we'll get into fights. And I won't say that love will make things easier, because that's not always true." I take a long breath and turn my gaze to the redhead. "But, whatever comes our way, he's worth it." I look back over to the blonde as he squirms, trying to get out of his friend's tight, unrelenting hold.

I see Blake smile out of the corner of my eye. "Keep that attitude up, and I'll be coming to your wedding before I graduate," he teases, pushing his glasses back up the bridge of his nose.

I laugh a little and playfully elbow him. "Can't wait," I retort sassily.

He chuckles at me and quietly sips more of his soda.

I sigh dreamily, staring at the handsome, grinning blonde as longing fills my chest.

"I can't wait."
