Chapter Eight

"Indeed, under the law, almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins."

     *Hebrews 9-22*

Seven minutes I arrived at this, shack, it was some sort of warehouse and trust me it was the scariest place I'd seen. Well aside from the barn with hundreds of dead men scattered around, that was scarier but this warehouse was definitely an eight on the scare-meter. I parked and got out of my car, the pendant in my pocket. I started walking and then my phone buzzed telling me I had a text message.

"Keep walking." Was all it said, I did what it said. Or she I guess. There were three shack thingies around the dirt covered area, I kept checking my phone to see if they said a direction to actually move into, but I just kept walking the way I had been. I was surprised that Alice had even had a cell phone, I didn't know how old she was or if the Undead aged differently than us "humans."

"Gage! We gotta go! RUN!" Temple came out of a shack her hair wild and messy, she had rips in her clothing; pink sweats and a purple pullover sweatshirt. She ran at me like a bullet, I caught her and rocked back on my heels.

"Why? Where is Alice?" She looked at me like I was crazy, she tried to pull me towards the car but something smashed into both of us, separating us. With a thud I fell on the dirt ground, my shoulder throbbed rhythmical. I tried to get up, pushing myself up I was knocked off my feet again, falling on my back this time. Temple screamed aloud, ear-splitting scream that made my ears ring.

"Temple!" I yelled watching Alice grab her, one hand on her neck; her nails were extended in long red spikes threatening to puncture her jugular.

"Pretty little thing, she does look like you though," Alice said tightening her grip, Temple squirmed. I met her scared blue eyes and tried to calm her down.

"Everything is going to be okay Temple, I need you to calm down and stop moving okay?" She nodded, tears streaming down her face.

"Gage I don't think you should be lying to her, you don't know what's going to happen, humans are so fragile... born to die." Alice trailed a finger down Temple's neck making a red line of blood.

"Stop. Let her go, I'm here, alone."

"Yes I know that but I can't drink your blood, I can he's." I took a step forward and Alice snarled baring her teeth, her red eyes glowed.

"Please let her go!" I begged not being able to look at Temple, she might be a lot of things but she didn't deserve to die, she was my little sister. I was supposed to take care of her, bring her home to my mom and dad.

"Did you bring it?" She asked loosening her grip on my sister's neck, I nodded my hand going instinctively to my pocket, and she smiled an evil smile that sent shivers down my back.

"Yes."

"Good, that might save your sister Gage, isn't that what you wanted to do? Though I don't know why you would want to, she's quite a pain, I watched your house; wondering who I should take. I knew if I took your dad you would come but you might think that he could take care of himself, then there was your mom, the most innocent adult I've ever seen. She seems really nice, too nice, and I didn't want to make it that personal, after all, Gage I like you!" she paused smiling at me, I tried not to flinch. "And then little miss spoiled rotten came home and started fighting with your poor mother, I knew who I should take, she reminded me so much of myself when I was human. So Gage you see I'm not going to kill her, I'm going to renew her!" I didn't get it, what was she going to do to my sister? And then... then I got it. She was going to make my little sister into an Undead.
