-chapter10-
Rose's P.O.V
I sent Alex out of my room in order to get changed into something less revealing than the towel I was previous clutching to my less than attractive body. Quickly, I threw my damp brown hair into a messy bun and let Alex back in again. he strolled in casually and repositioned himself on my bed where he was sat moments ago, I joined him cautiously as I awaited his speech with a nervous sort of curiosity.
"so,good shower?" Alex questioned, although I knew he couldn't care for whatever my answer may have been.
"cut the crap,al. what's going on?" I hindsight i put that rather bluntly but I wasnt in mood for small talk. Ever since miles had told me that Alex was just after a shag from me, I wasn't at all prepared to tolerate what he had to say.
he looked somewhat taken aback by my abrupt comment and hint of guilt sunk into me. he coughed softly, clearing his throat, before shakily continuing...
"I like you" he said.

"what have I done?" I thought
"she clearly doesn't like me, why did I say that?!"
"oh god alex, you idiot!"
I cursed at myself in my head as I nervously awaited a response that seemed no where to be seen.
her eyes flickered at random objects around the room, avoiding eye contact with me as my eyes were locked on her.
"ur,um" her voice was crackling as she tried to find the right words, if any words at all. I watched intently as her cupcake cheeks began to redden and she played anxiously with her hair that had fallen from the hair band.
"I'm sorry,i shouldn't have said that,im going to go-"
I arose from my seat on the bed and headed towards the door in embarrassment when she stopped me in my tracks.
"wait!" she shouted. "just wait. please" she continued, quieter.
without saying a word I returned to my place, listening as muffled noises escaped her lips that made no sentences, only signs of conversation yet to be had.
"I..I like you too"

I struggled to muster up any words as it was, I think it was almost a coincidence that I had picked those words... almost in response of repetition of his.
"yeah,i think I do" I continued, increasing the confidence in my previous declaration.
I saw a smile appear on his face. not a grin like I was familiar to, an actual smile. he wasn't flirting with me or trying to be crude - this was smile of happiness, a smile that made me smile.
we sat in silence for a minute as we both reflected on the short exchange of words we'd just had...
his eyes caught mine and I saw something I'd never seen before, honesty. it twinkled oh so lovingly, in contrast to his piercing orbs that were warming yet cut me like a knife. I felt the dimples form in my cheeks as the corners of my lips were pulled into a smile, he grabbed me by my waist and flung me on top of him.
"stop! al!" I squirmed in desperation as I struggled to get out of the grasp he had around my waist, tickling me like an idiot. panting like a dog, I tried to get some of my breathe back in between the fits of uncontrollable laughter and begs for Alex to let me go.
He chuckled and let me go, allowing my body to fall down next to his. We lay there for a while, side by side, and I thought of all the things that could go right and all the things that could go wrong...
