-chapter12-
Rose's POV
The ferocious, chilling wind was cunningly creeping into the gaps in my clothing, numbing my body inside and out. The horizontal rain was hammering down onto me but it went almost un-noticed as I was already in such a terrible state. I hadn't checked a mirror but I was sure the reflection wouldn't show anything more than my lowest expectations and i could feel the lumpy mascara running down my cold cheeks.
I reached out a damp hand to pull open the door to the apartment block's steps, my frozen blue fingers grasping the freezing stainless steel door handle. It was nice to be out of the rain, however it certainly wasn't any warmer in the dull, grey walled stairwell.
I threw my head back and sighed at the sight of the winding flight of stairs I had to climb. Dragging my feet as I went; I slumped up each stair - one step at a time. It seemed to take a lot more effort than it usually did and I was loosing the will to live in the upward trek, still, I knew it would be worth it and so continued on.
...
Reaching the last step felt like the best thing that'd happened all day, everything was such a struggle and my thoughts were weighing me down. I stood outside the front door of apartment number 26 and rang the doorbell that was adjacent to the wooden frame. I hung my head solemnly and awaited hopefully for an answer that I knew wouldn't be far away as I could hear footsteps approaching the other side of the door - thank God.
The sound of locks releasing and the door opening was followed by a familiar, chirpy voice:
"rose?..What's happened?!"
Another tear rolled down my cheek and dripped off of my chin, splashing on the solid concrete floor. I coughed and swallowed the lump in my throat before replying...
"it's...its Alex" I sniffed, embracing the warm hug I was incased in, something I was ever so thankful for.
"come on babe, explain inside" he said calmly, taking me by the hand to walk me into his home.
I cleared my throat once more and blew my nose on my sleeve rather unattractively.
"thanks,miles..I love you"
Alex's POV
I woke up to the sound of an unfamiliar alarm ringing in my ear. Thinking nothing of it, I rolled over onto my side to see rose.
"what the fu-...oh,shit." I cursed quietly under my breath as it appeared the girl next to me hadn't heard the alarm ringing and was still asleep, what's more - the girl next me wasn't rose! in a panic, I quickly clambered out of bed, shivering slightly as the cold air hit my naked body. I threw my clothes on in an unusually disorganised fashion and scurried out of the bedroom before my one night stand would wake up. As I made a run for the exit, I saw a recognisable lump asleep on the kitchen floor - one hand clutching a half empty can of cider and the other under his head as a sort of makeshift pillow.
"matt!" I hissed quietly, in order not to wake other people around too.
"MATT!" I raised my voice slightly, prodding him in the face with the tip of my shoe.
"urhhh, what d'ya want?" he moaned in a sleepy, hungover voice, remaining in the same position in a slump on the floor.
"oi!" I hissed at him, bending down to his level and shaking his body. "seriously helders, this is dead important!"
He slowly arose into a sitting position, leaning against the kitchen cupboards for support and cradling his head which i assume was banging from the all the drink last night.
