Loki stood, rising to his full height of six foot two. Edith did the same, tucking her hair behind her right ear. "Oi," She called, managing to achieve the Avengers' attention.
"Yes, dear?" Stark jokingly replied.
Edith shot him a glare, but proceeded, "Captain Spangles said he wanted to talk to 'im." She gestured to Loki. "And, as you can see, he's back from fairyland now."
Loki raised a brow, giving Edith a questioning look.
In response, she shrugged, and approached the group, Loki naturally following. Everyone gazed at the Captain expectantly.
He spoke after a moment, "Privately." Tony was the first to exit, suspicious of the captain's intentions. Loki watched as they left the room, then turned his gaze to Steve. Loki thought it best to be nice, as hard as it was for him. Frankly, the only Avenger besides Edith he actually liked, was in fact, Hawkeye. Perhaps it was because he'd actually gotten to know him? Who knew.
"Loki," Steve addressed him. Loki signified that he was listening by nodding. Again, the Captain sighed. "I don't know exactly how to start this conversation, so I'll just come out and say it: You're....interested in Edith, aren't you?...Romantically?" Steve crossed his arms. He shouldn't be so welcoming, perhaps.
Dread washed over Loki, though he chuckled, and grinned, "That's a preposterous assumption, Captain," He replied, donning a calm facade. He couldn't force the feeling of horror away. He felt like an ant beneath a magnifying glass.
Steve looked up at him, his sky blues scanning his face. He knew better. "Really? So, if I tell the others about this conversation, you wouldn't care?" The Captain began, testing Loki. He knew he was lying, but he wanted him to confess. Perhaps he'd spent too much time around Stark?
"No, I would not." Loki told him.
"Alright," Steve turned, heading for the door. Loki grabbed him by his arm. Steve looked to him, arching a brow. Loki's gaze was turned to the floor.
"Fine." The god hissed at him. He released him, and Steve turned back to face him. Loki glared daggers at him. "You will tell no one," He demanded. Of course, he wasn't going to admit it. Especially to Steve.
"I won't. I know the feeling. It was...before I went under,"
Loki raised a brow, rather curious.
Steve leaned against a small column. "Her name was Peggy," It was clear that Steve still adored her. Loki could hear it in his voice, but alas, there was pain to go with it. "I won't tell anyone." Steve simply told him.
Of course, he didn't trust Loki...But he didn't exactly trust Edith either. Loki was beyond confused.
"Why-....Why would you allow me to even go near her if you know this? I attempted to take over your planet, and you 'support' me?" The towering god was astonished by the man's sheer ignorance.
"I might technically be an old man, but I'm not stupid. - Just listen when I say that you should embrace her while you can. She could be gone in minutes, or seconds. When you love someone, you live for them, until you die for them," Steve told the god.
Loki clenched his jaw, staring at the soldier. In truth, he hadn't a clue what to say; Hence, why he just stood, glaring at him. Steve pushed off the column, and took his leave. Loki stood, silently in his thoughts.
How could he know? This is absurd...! Odin - What if he does tell her? The god let out a harsh sigh. Love is a lie. Even if it were real, a woman like her could never love a monster like you. Fool.
Edith entered the room, snatching him from his thoughts.
"So, what'd he tell you?" She quizzed; She'd changed out of her work-out clothing, and back into her daily attire.
"Nothing interesting." Loki replied. Again, he hated himself. He couldn't seem to lie.
"Then what's with the look of fear all over your face?" Edith raised a brow at him, and crossed her arms.
"Oh, fine - He told me that if I attempt to escape, he'll send me back to Thor." He grumbled. Now, the God of Lies had returned.
Edith seemed to buy it. "Ouch." She chuckled. "Go get changed. Stark wants me to 'demonstrate' my powers." A smirk tugged at the corner of her painted blood red lips. "I'm sure you'll wanna be there for that." The necromancer turned on her heel, and left the room. Meanwhile, Loki headed to the restroom to change his clothes.
He truly hated that one being could make him this way. The more he thought of it, the more he wanted to pierce his heart with a dagger. As he finally pulled on his blazer, he stared into the mirror at his reflection. His fists tightened into balls, his rage possessing him. A wave of green energy spread across the room; It knocked a lounge chair across the room, and onto it's back. The lights flickered, and the mirror before him shattered. It took a moment to realize what he had done. When he did, he quickly snatched up his bag, and rushed out the restroom.
