Chapter 8. Surrendered Consent

In three days everything will change. That is for Karen. Her father’s life will finally end if she doesn’t act fast. Without Thea and Gibo beside her she felt completely vulnerable. This day she decided to meditate to seek for an answer. Unaware that she was already falling asleep she was about to hit the floor when she heard a sudden sound.

“Meow.” It was a cat. It was standing in the terrace of her room. A black one. Could it be Inigo? She thought. Ever since he left Karen is secretly waiting for his return. But all of her thoughts vanished as the black cat’s eyes turned pearl black. “Good morning my heiress. It’s me your grandfather. You still haven’t contacted us yet. Are you serious about that? You really want your father to be dead?”

“No! It’s not like that. I don’t want him to die but I don’t want to be evil too!”

“Hahahhaha. Such childish remark from a 16 year old. What is evil anyway? You don’t have any idea what you are talking about.” She felt Goosebumps all over her body upon hearing her grandfather’s reply.

“You’re evil! You kill people. I don’t want to be like you.”

“So Karen I think you don’t know our situation. Being a warlock is not evil. It is who we are! You know what’s evil kid? It’s you choosing to let your father die than to have a ‘little’ sacrifice.” The cat’s mouth made a very frightening wide smile.

“But my dad would never forgive me if I will live a life that he had abandoned! He wouldn’t like that!”

“I see. How about your mom? And little Chris? Have you thought about what they’re going to feel when your dad dies?”

“But…. I….”

“You see child? You know nothing. Come with me and I will share to you the ultimate knowledge no man has ever achieve!”

“But… If I decided to stay with you how can you guarantee me that my family will be safe?” Karen never liked her grandfather. His flare of arrogance and elitism but if she can avert the death of her dad by agreeing with his terms then she better make the best of it.

“So you want to modify our deal? Well aside from saving your dad you want me to assure you that your family will be safe? Say kid there is only one way that I know that will keep them safe from us.”

“What is it?” Instead of answer Karen verbally the cat sent a telepathic message. Upon realizing the solution Karen covered her mouth and started to cry. The cat just stared at her as if it was waiting for an answer. “If that’s the only way then I will consent. But I need one more request to you before we start the deal.”

“It appears I still have a soft spot for my heiress. Go on child tell. What is it that you want?”

“I want you to give me a week to enjoy this life before I join you. Living in your damned estate.” Karen bravely declared to her grandfather.

“Very well. Remember you cannot escape me.” The cat then jumped off and ran. Karen checks on her father to see if the curse is already lifted. Angelo was still in his bed but he appears much better than usual.

“Hello sweetie.” He greeted her. He was smiling. The vitality of his body seems to be coming back.

“Are you feeling better dad?” Karen is still processing the price that she’s going to pay for his recovery.

“Anak, did you break the curse?” Angelo spoke with doubt in his eyes.

“Yes dad.” She lied. “Mrs. Fujiwara helped though. It was very difficult but we’ve managed somehow.” Karen smiled to hide her anxiety. Besides it’s not good for her dad to figure out she was lying.
