I close the front door with a sigh waiting for Constantine and Dakota. Tonight was us three scouting. To be perfectly honest with you I hated scouting, it was the most boring job of the pack but it had to be done. According to Zeke it be in our best interest to switch the scouting off and on every week. The first week was with Dakota. After the incident last night and this morning I figured it was in my best interest to ignore Dakota completely.
I liked that Charlie wanted to go to the gym and work out, it showed she wanted to stay strong in case a rogue pack or something wanted to take her. I don't know why I asked Owen to take her, maybe for the fact that they were both vampires, or that I wanted both of them out of my hair.
I lit up a cigarette trying to be less stressed. I took a puff and nearly jumped out of my skin when both Constantine and Dakota come out of the house. I was leaning against the siding of the house and I didn't see them in my peripheral vision before they were standing right in front of me.
"Fuck you guys ring a bell or something." I growled stamping out my cigarette that wasn't even finished.
"I hope that was rhetorical." Dakota smirked. "Because you know I actually have a bell." She giggled.
I rolled my eyes and quickly changed into my wolf form. The shift into a wolf didn't hurt anymore, the first time was the worst. Looking back to the first time I had shifted was down right horrible. I was sixteen and every bone in my body had to physically break into a million pieces in order to be a wolf. Changing back was a lot easier but still hurt. All I remember was such pain and coming to completely naked. The first time wolves change they typically don't remember what happened that night because the wolf just takes completely over with its instincts.
Constantine and Dakota followed my lead with Constantine on my right and Dakota on my left, our clothes lay on the ground. The patrol was fairly easy on the vampire side of the tracks. The werewolf side was harder because a lot of attacks happened over there. Wolves are very territorial. Rogues were equally territorial especially if their pack wasn't a good one. They were small, almost skin and bones because of not being fed right. Rogue packs all came down to being leaderless or someone who didn't care to lead or take care of the pack very well.
Today was weird though, something wasn't right, I could feel it in the air and it made my hair stand on end. "Stay alert, something isn't right..." I said uneasily.
"Someone should go back to the house." Constantine said and I could hear the fear in his thoughts as he thought about Charlie.
"Dakota, scout by the house if you need us call." I ordered.
"Yes, Boss." She thought as I felt the fur on me take off when she ran.
Charlie's scent was all over this part of town, I could smell her everywhere and I wondered what kind of life she had here. I subconsciously followed her scent everywhere I went, to be near her. I then patrolled the border of the vampire territory which took all of ten minutes with my wolf speed.
Within that time I felt Dakota change from her wolf form to her human one.
"Dakota?!" I thought her name already heading back to the house when there was no answer.
I then felt Dakota's wolf again in my head. "Boss, you need to get over here!" She said and then was gone back to her human form.
I growled why would she get out of her wolf form and leave herself vulnerable to attack? Constantine was on my right before I knew it, we then reach the cottage back yard.
Dakota was there and so was another wolf with shorts. Different packs can't communicate with each other unless the wolves are related to each other in some way. Like if I had a brother from a different pack I would be able to communicate with him only because he was my blood.
I shifted and I heard Constantine growl in disapproval. "Who the hell are you?" I ask looking at the guy in just shorts, it was dark so I couldn't see who it was, especially with his face in shadow.
Out stepped this huge guy I had never seen before. If I wasn't straight I would say he was real good looking. He had short blond hair, gray eyes, stubble on his chin, and was built like a truck.
Looking over at Dakota I could see her biting her lip with deep red blush on her cheeks. She was clearly affected by this godly man.
"It's a pleasure to meet you Jesse Gordan." The guy replied with a very thick Russian accent.
"Ho-..." I was gonna say but got interrupted.
The guy raised an eyebrow. "How do I know you? I know everything about you Jesse. My name is Alarick. I just wanted to meet this puppy and let you know the things you have here are gonna crumble under my foot." He smirked. "The princess is gonna be taken from you. I can't even smell her on you. Did you mark her yet?" He taunted.
"Your the rouge leader who's been attacking our borders!" I said, my mouth hanging open a little. Things were about to get ugly. Rouges are never this big and their leaders are disorderly. This isn't right.
"His name means noble leader or wolf leader...." Dakota told me telepathically. I could hear the worry in her voice.
Constantine sat down there I think confused or in shock. He growled lowly in his throat.
"Just watch your back Jesse and your unmarked mate. I heard she's real krasivaya." He said smacking his lips before changing into his wolf form. He was big and rusty red color.
I growled and changed back immediately running! "Pack meeting now!" I yelled out my frustration, I could feel the recoil in Constantine and the others.
AN: Krasivaya means beautiful with strength.
