It was a warm summer evening, a light breeze drifting through the air surrounding the grand looming castle. The plain village people were sat happily in their homes, discussing their days and relaxing when booming shouts pierced the sky.
"YOU KNOW THIS IS WRONG!" A strong voice sounded across what seemed the entire kingdom. "HE WILL BRING THIS WHOLE REALM DOWN WITH HIM!" The voice echoed loudly from the castle entrance.
A woman was there on the magnificent doorstep of the greying castle, projecting her voice through all the heavily guarded walls. Her red hair whipped around as if they were flames that were igniting with her anger.
The King and Queen of the realm had fallen. But their successor was their son, a greatly disliked person throughout the entire kingdom. But as he came into power a decaying, poisoned darkness had befallen the once happy realm and everything around them began to change, and not for the better.
The red haired girl however stood her ground. She wanted her voice heard, and it definitely was. Everyone in the realm had heard of her, but not many knew what she looked like. She was the most trusted knight and protector of the crown.
But here she was, displaying something like a tantrum outside of a castle she would've protected with her life. Anyone walking by wouldn't have guessed it was the knight they'd tell and hear stories of. Yet she refused to move. She had good reason to be there and nobody tried to push her away. She was very well respected by everyone in that dim building and they felt her anger too.
She had just been kicked out. By the orders of the new disliked king. She could no longer be a knight for the royals or even live there. She was made to hand in her strong heavy armour and her beloved weapon that was always by her side. She had tried to help the son, feeling like she owed this to her dearest friends, the King and Queen. However, he bluntly refused all help feeling that his decisions were the best and the only opinion that mattered. But by doing this, a darkness was born inside him. With every hurtful and evil decision he made the darkness grew and grew. And the knight knew it was only a small matter of time before the whole kingdom would collapse under the weight of the overwhelming darkness.
But as the cover of night began to envelop the realm, the knight made her decision. She had stayed outside the castle for many hours now and knew there was no other options. So she strode around the side of the castle and began to climb. It was easy because the castle was many of thousands of years old and the bricks were wearing away. She pushed on until she reached the armoury window which was a tiny crack open. So she silently and carefully reached through the window and opened the latch even more until she could easily crawl through. She was light on her feet and nobody heard a sound as she found her shining sharp sword and jumped back out the window. And then she walked. She calmly carried her sword over her shoulder and just walked. Walked right past the front of the castle and through the surrounding villages. As she reached the border between the village land and forest land, she paused. Swivelling around to look at the castle one more time, vowing to return and put an end to the growing darkness. Until she turned back around and strode forward into the shade of the trees.
