"We're here," the old man said. "The old temple." The bricks were crooked, capable of shifting and crumbling at any second. Dust lurked in the corners of the temple, debris rolling about.
"This place looks terrible," Israel denied. "Why are we even here?" The old man exhaled.
"Child, it's here to cleanse the curse that'll kill you."
"Kill me? Us? So that's why that dude got locked away." The man nodded a solemn nod and turned his head, pointing towards three alters, each most likely representing the gems.
"Too easy," Maranda scoffed, stepping forward and setting her gem on the pink-outlined alter. The old man gave Israel a nudge. Go. He leaned forward, over the blue alter. His gem shined as it was gently and carefully placed on the tip.
"Is that really it? We're just setting a small crystal on a big rock. . . to unlock powers?" The man shrugged.
"It never changes." Suddenly Israel realized something. Something so dumb. The man's name.
"Wait, what's your name?" He asked. Maranda gasped, for she most likely forgot about asking this too.
"Yeah, tell us!" The man laughed a joyful, little giggle.
"Fine, then. My name is. . ."The guns bobbed from their spots on the officers' sides. The gear chuckled and shook as they ran.
"Get to the warehouse!" The heat made their skin crackle and their blood pop. It caused salty balls of sweat roll from their heads. "We have to find that old man!" Helicopters flew overhead, zooming past and landing in every open spot possible. Ken was at the man's side again, older, filled with bravery.
"Why don't we just. . . resurrect the body? We could use it as a weapon! It'd be perfect to retrieve the gems." The warden grunted, his gray, moist hair swaying over his bobbing forehead.
"That's not a bad idea. Find where that old prick is, then go ahead and bring that retard back. This'll be a death I'll thoroughly enjoy."
