 (Hoseok's POV)

I drummed my fingers against my thigh beneath the desk. I hoped that the small movement would be enough to prevent me from falling asleep, but this was not the case. Feeling a sharp pinch in my right thigh, I awoke to my best friend Kihyun coughing loudly to mask my grumbles of discomfort.

"Don't you ever cut your nails?..." I mumbled, still half asleep. I opened my eyes to see Mr. Choi, our chemistry teacher, looming before me with my graded test paper clutched in his hand. Judging by the amount of corrections I could already see on the paper, I presumed that it was not good news, as usual. Taking the paper from his hand, he looked at me and sighed. I knew that I could have done better, but looking over the paper, it was not as bad as I expected; I got a C. I grinned to myself, but Mr. Choi just sighed again and walked back to his desk.

"Now, we will be making some slight changes to the classes. Can students with an A- or higher please go to room V105 with Mr. Tuan. If I am correct... yes, that's only Lee Dongmin, Kim Namjoon and Lim Changkyun."

Changkyun hit his head against the desk and he let out a whimper of protest. Jooheon whined, grabbed his best friend's hand and pulled him close as they pretended to weep into each other's arms. After a very emotional goodbye, I laughed at how extra my friends were.

Mr. Choi continued. "There will also be a few students from Mr Tuan's class joining us."

As if on cue, the lab door swung open, perhaps a little too forcefully. The back of the door met the shelf beside it, causing several glass beakers to fall to the ground and shatter, littering the lab floor with glass shards.

My eyes were drawn to the boy who opened the door in the first place. He was tall and slim, with legs that seemed to go on forever. His big brown eyes widened in shock, and then lowered to the floor. His cheeks flushed red with embarrassment and I found this cute, until I saw his eyes begin to rim with tears. I started to stand up to help him, but Mr. Choi gestured for me to sit down, and I reluctantly did so.

An icy blond haired boy rushed in behind him. Seeing what had happened to the other, he let out a gentle laugh, took the taller boy's hand and squeezed it gently. It was clear that the taller boy felt a great comfort in the other's touch, as he smiled warmly back at him. Then, he turned to face Mr. Choi.

"I'm ever so sorry sir. I will clean this-"

"No, no," Mr. Choi interrupted. "I'll do it. Be careful not to step on the glass. And... Hyungwon is it?"

"Y-yes, I'm Hyungwon and this is Minhyuk." While Hyungwon shuffled awkwardly, Minhyuk gave Mr. Choi a bright smile and shook his hand.

"Please sit down in the free seats. And be more careful next time!"

Minyhyuk gave Hyungwon's hand one final squeeze of reassurance. Without hesitating, Minhyuk sat down in Changkyun's old seat, suprising Jooheon who shared the desk. The outgoing boy immediately started chatting away to Jooheon, leaving him looking slightly overwhelmed.

Hyungwon, however, took a few moments before deciding where to sit, despite there being only two empty spaces left. He scanned the classroom, and we made eye contact for only a split second before I averted my gaze to my feet. Kihyun must have noticed this, and he raised an eyebrow at me knowingly, so I kicked him under the desk. Rubbing his shin, he smirked at my embarrassment, but I ignored him. My eyes were on Hyungwon.

He took the seat two rows in front of me. There was something about him, although I couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was. Hyungwon intrigued me.
