After he dropped something off at his friends house they started to head to the beach.
Woah. They moved quick.
They walked hand in hand.
Free from Maddie and everyone else.
They smelt the salty smell in the air and breathed in all there was.
The smile they shared was an old one.
But a one that will always be remembered.
Millie remembered when he didn't notice her in eighth grade.

The small fragile girl had worked up the courage to go to his library table.
"I'm sorry but do I know you?"
"You d-don't b-but I'm hoping we can be friends?"
"I don't hang with girls with cooties."
"I-I Don't have those!"
He glared at her.
Shoving his copy of the Iliad in his bag, he turned to leave.
Someone scoffed.
"What a douchebag."
She turned around.
"I'm Finn."

Smiling softly she leaned up and beamed in his face.
"What's so funny?" He asked clearly confused.
"Nothing, it's just three months ago, we weren't even close friends."
He rolled his eyes.
"We can be." He said looking into her eyes.
"Yes. Yes we can."
She kissed him on the cheek with one final look into the lake.
It was going to be a good year
