"Y/N! Wake Up!! Wake uppppp!"

My eyes opened immediately, the artificial light of the lamp in my room illuminating my best friend Alex's face. She was smiling, shoving my shoulder.

"I'm awake, I'm awake!" I retorted, smiling too. I couldn't help it, I was way too excited to be tired. I glanced at the clock. 5:00 AM.

I looked outside my window, it was still dark out.

I went to take a shower and pack everything I needed for today in a big duffle bag.

Jacket, check

Sweater, check

Pants, check

Under Armour, check

Knee pads, check

Back protector, check

Helmet, check

Proper socks, check

Gloves, check

Goggles, check

"Y/n! Are you ready?!" I heard Alex shout from her room.

"Yeah! Lets go!" I shouted back.

We stuffed our bags in my car and hopped in, promptly heading to go get an early morning coffee before the drive. I glanced at the clock, entering our destination in the navigation system. It was 6:00 now, we would get to the ski park at just about 8:30.

We drove along the countryside, listening to Alex's carefully crafted road trip playlist, jamming along excitedly.

As the clock hit 8:00, we started to feel the cold seep through the walls of the car, driving past the first little specks of white snow on the sides of the road.

We drove further and further up the mountain as more and more white filled our view.

I pulled the car into the parking space. I got out of the car quickly, not being able to stay seated any longer. I breathed in the cold air. 'Finally' I thought, breathing back out.

"Lets gooooo" Alex said cheerfully, grabbing her things from the trunk of the car, pulling on her jacket and pants. I did the same. We walked over to the ticket booth.

"Two day passes please." I told the man at the window.

"Alright ma'am, that'll be $26.00" He replied.

I gave him the money and he handed us our two shiny day passes.

"Thank you, sir!" Alex said cheerfully. Grabbing the passes and skipping off. I followed her laughing at her enthusiasm.

"Slow down, we still have to rent our gear." I said. She stopped in her tracks.

"Oh, right..." she said, "We'll let's go then!" She exclaimed, regaining her enthusiasm.

Alex carefully carried her skis out of the rental store, trying to carry them by balancing them on her shoulder.

I carried my board under my arm, my boots already slipped on. You couldn't take the smile off my face if you tried.
