Chapter Twenty Three | More Bad News

Romeo's POV

Wendy shifted,the water moved with her.I didn't say anything.We were sitting in the bath,the power had gone out while they were in there."Last night you said you were scared,why?"asked Wendy.I glanced up,wet hair stuck to her neck and face.Her knees were pressed against her chest."Wouldn't you be?Hisao is dangerous,you haven't seen anything,"I replied.I shook my head,I couldn't focus on Hisao at all-I wanted to make up for the time I had missed.

"Tell me about Kasai,was he born early?Late?What was he like as a baby?I wanna know."

Wendy smiled,"he was born a month early.He was very quiet as a baby,never cried at night unless he was sick or hungry,"said Wendy.She tucked a piece of wet hair behind her ear and thought for a moment,then she laughed."Oh you should've seen it.When he was born Natsu was the first to hold him..."said Wendy.She trailed off and I thought for a moment Natsu did something stupid.

"Natsu said he was so proud of me,I had been been in labour for eleven hours.Natsu had tears in his eyes and then gave me the whole speech on how he was proud of me and how I was strong and about Kasai.I was crying myself,his speech made me cry more."

I nodded,eleven hours seemed like a long time.But Wendy said it casually,as though she was saying put that in the fridge."Then he said that you'd be so happy,incredibly happy,"whispered Wendy.She laughed and shrugged her shoulders,in the two years I was gone I missed her so much.I had missed so many moments.I didn't know if I had a son or daughter and I didn't know anything about them."I wish I had been there,"I said.Wendy shrugged,I could tell it was sour.

"It's fine,you couldn't be there."

I sighed,"Its not fine.I should've been there,"I said.Wendy didn't say anything else,it fell silent.Candles lit up the bathroom,turning the water an odd colour."Its fine.When we have another kid you'll be there,"replied Wendy.I couldn't help but contain my grin.Another kid?Wendy looked up at me and blushed,"only if you want another kid!"she yelled.I laughed.Wendys face went even more red,she pouted.

"Hey stop laughing!"

I stopped laughing,although I occasionally let out a laugh.I leaned over Wendy's knees and kissed her,her hand went on my cheeks."Of course I want another kid you idiot,"I whispered.Wendy let out a sigh of relief and then we parted.I watched as she shivered."The waters cold now,"noted Wendy.I lit my hand up under the water,creating a burst of heat and light.Wendy screamed.She scrambled to sit on the edge of the bath,she was shivering even more.

"It's fine,a trick I learned."

Wendy slowly relaxed into the water and looked at my palm."That's amazing,"whispered Wendy.I nodded,then I made the fire into a fox.The fox ran through the water and onto Wendy's leg."It doesn't burn,how do you do that?"asked Wendy,I shrugged.Wendy touched the fox,she looked at me and repeated her question."I don't know,I just think of it and it happens.Why?"I asked.

"I wanna learn how to use fire magic.I saw Natsu use Lucy's magic and Gajeel use Levys-I want to try it out."

I looked at her surprised."But that's gotta take up some energy,I mean I've been learning since I was seven-,"I was cut off by Wendy's determined look.I sighed and sat up better,I held my palm out and created a ball of fire."Its like summoning air I guess,do that tornado trick you do,"I command.Wendy gave me an odd look,but she created a little tornado of wind in her hand."Now instead of wind,try make it fire.Feel the warmth in your palm,Imagine there's a fire there,"I said.Wendy breathed deeply,a spark flickered.

"Ow!"

I laughed,"that hurt you prick!"yelled Wendy.I held my stomach as I laughed,Wendy rolled her eyes and continued to focus.I watched her.The tornado turned to fire."Well done!Try to change its colour,"I said,Wendy narrowed her eyes and concentrated on her palm,it turned into a brilliant blue.Wendy grinned,"I did it!"cheered Wendy.I laughed and threw her arms around me."Your a great teacher,you know that?"asked Wendy.I shrugged.

"I guess I am."

"Well there was reports of dark magic here and here,but when Gajeel and I scouted it there was nothing!"

I looked at where Levy was pointing."No,see over here there was a small base only thirty members.They were one of the recent ones I destroyed,maybe they want to stay behind?"I suggested.Levy nodded and Juvia wrote down the notes,I marked the area off with a red light pen."Well what about Stella?Theres always a dark guild there,"suggested Gray.He was bouncing his knee nervously.He obviously didn't want anything to happen to his kids.

"There's heaps there,but Sabertooth already sent a scouting party.They were attacked too,remember?"

Natsu slammed his fist on the table,beside me I felt Wendy jump."Well we'll send a party as well!We need to find everyone before anything happens!"yelled Natsu.I could feel everyone was tense,I somehow found my hand in Wendy's.I was about to speak,but Erza stood forward."Natsu I know your worried for Igneel,Nashi and Lucy but calm down.Arguing won't help them,Sting won't be happy if we invade on his mission,"reasoned Erza.

"Fuck!I don't care if we invade on them!Right now we need to find everyone!"

I mentally sighed,he didn't listen.But Wendy spoke up now."Natsu,I'm just as worried as you are-"Natsu cut Wendy off.Tears glistened in his eyes,he was shaking physically.I went stiff,his eyes showed so much anger and pain.Would he attack anyone?Would the E.N.D side of him show?"No Wendy you don't understand!You only lost Kasai,I lost everyone!"yelled Natsu.I turned to Wendy,to see her reaction.My hand tightened around hers.

"I understand Natsu.Igneel,Nashi and Lucy can fight,after all they can all use magic but Kasai is two years old!He doesn't understand war,he doesn't understand how dangerous this situation is!He has a much higher chance of getting hurt!"

Wendy and Natsu both had great points,Natsu had lost his family but Kasai was two.They both had so much to loose.Then Wendy took a deep shaky breath,"Hisao is after Romeo and us dragon slayers.If we want to beat him we can't fight among our allies,"said Wendy.Natsu calmed down,but his muscles were still tense.Wendy spoke again.

"Romeo and I will mark out the old bases that have been taken down in red.We will mark down possible location in orange and in yellow we will mark reports of dark magic and mages.In blue we mark down the definite locations,got it?"

Everyone nodded,they flooded out of the room and we began to mark the places.I was surprised Wendy knew many of the locations,she crossed out all possibilities.We stayed there from lunch to around seven.The sun had gone down,lightning was the only thing lighting up the outside world.I sighed and stretched,I rubbed the bridge of my nose.We finished.As we were about to walk out Sasuki bolted in.She was panting hard and fast.

"It's Natsu!He said he had to find Lucy!"

I looked at Wendy,her eyes flashed with worry and we turned our attention back on the panting girl in front of us.Her chest moved up and down rapidly,I tapped my finger against my thigh impatiently as I waited for Wendy to help her.Wendy stood back and Sasuki took one last deep breath."Tell us what happened,"said Wendy.Sasuki nodded.

"I found him running out so I followed,when I caught up to him he was leaving his house with a bag.He said he had to find Lucy.He said if we weren't going to take action anytime soon he would himself,with or without back up!"
