Chapter Twenty Seven | Unspoken Words

A week had passed since we found the note.A week had also passed since Romeo and I offered to train the mages under twelve how to defend themselves against people bigger then them.Now we stood in the same clearing,Romeo was standing in from of Rin.They were assessing Rin,but as soon as they clashed it was clear he needed more practice.He had trouble unbalancing Romeo,but then again Romeo as twice his height and weight.

"This is unfair,don't you think?Why can't we use magic?"

Romeo turned to us,he was dodging Rins attacks as he did so."Well Asuka,if you want to try using your magic on me then go ahead,"said Romeo.I watched Asuka react,she smirked and pulled out the magic gun from her belt."Well if we can use magic against you why can't you use it against us?"asked Nova.They really didn't understand,did they?Romeo was about to answer Novas question but I stepped in.

"Well Nova,Romeo and I have been fighting much longer then you guys have.We have a lot more moves and spells we can use.We'd win almost immediately."

"But Hisaos army won't hold back,will they?I heard it last night!Dad was talking to mum telling her it would be best if us kids left while this war happened!Dad and mum are the most powerful mages I know and I'm their kid,I should be able to fight and defend myself just like mum did when she was little!"

We all fell silent,then Reiki put his hand on Rosemarys shoulder."Rosie...when did you hear that story?"asked Reiki.I knew exactly what story he was talking about.About how Erza was trapped and used as a slave for the construction of The Tower of Heaven."I heard dad talking to mum after a nightmare...I'm not a little kid,"said Rosemary.She crossed her arms.I was about to speak,but my words failed.Then Romeo crouched down.

"You're right,they won't hold back.You are strong,nobody's denying it.But war,battles and what your mother and father went through...being held as a prisoner is horrifying.I can't imagine what it's like for a child.I can understand where Erza and Jellal are coming from with taking you away.You were already taken once and I'd never seen Erza so worried and scared in her life.You scared her,she doesn't want to lose you."

Rosemary stayed silent,then Romeo gave her a reassuring smile."If you want,we'll fight back with our magic,"said Romeo.Rosemary looked up,then turned to me.She glanced at her brother,then back to Romeo."Was mum really that scared?"asked Rosemary,I nodded.She stood up and brushed her skirt off,pushed her braid off her shoulder."Then I gotta be strong.I want to fight,"said Rosemary.I smiled at her enthusiasm and bravery.She will be an amazing fighter when she was older.

"Alright then,let's go."

"Mum!Dad!I beat Romeo!"

I laughed as Rosemary ran forward to her parents,she hugged them and they turned to Romeo and I."We sparred,she asked me to fight back and managed to get me off my feet,"said Romeo.He placed Sylvia on the ground and the Fullbuster kids ran to talk to their parents."Is that so?Well that means he's helping you become a strong fighter,"said Erza.Rosemary hugged her father tightly and he put his hand on her shoulder.

"I'll be as strong as you one day mum!You too Dad!"

I leaned against Romeos shoulder,smiling at Rosemary's enthusiasm."Of course you will,when this is over I'll take you on your first real quest.Hows that sound?"asked Jellal,Rosemarys eyes glittered with excitement.I looked at Romeo,searching for any emotion.It showed how much he wanted to take Kasai on a quest.She jumped on her feet and squealed,Reiki laughed most likely remembering his first quest."Well we better go,Erza.See you tomorrow,"said Romeo.

"Of course,get home safely."

We nodded and began the walk home,saying a quick farewell to Macao as we passed.I noticed the darkening sky as we walked,"i think it's going to rain,"I commented.Romeo looked up at the sky,he nodded and we continued walking in comfortable silence.We were silent for a while,even though there was something we both wanted to say.Even when we arrived home,no words were exchanged.

I walked to the end of the hallway upstairs,where large doors would open up to the balcony.I sat down on the floor,a coffee between my hands as I watched the rain drip down the glass screen.I leaned back against the wall and closed my eyes.I listened to the thunder that was in the distance.The rain dropping down on the balcony and roof was calming.I let out a sigh of relief.

I felt something shuffle across from me.I opened my eyes,Romeo was sitting opposite me."You okay?You seem a little distant,"said Romeo.I took a small sip of my coffee,I scrunched up my nose in disgust.It was always bitter."Its so bitter,"I muttered.Romeo laughed,he held his stomach.When he slowed down he looked up at me,then gave me a toothy grin.

"You've always been the one to have a sweet tooth haven't you?"

"I have,haven't I?"

Romeo leaned forward and put his hand on my knee."You are okay though,right?"asked Romeo.I shrugged,I wanted to talk to him about something but I couldn't even find the right words to express how I felt."You need to tell me something,"said Romeo.I looked up from my hands,how did he know I needed to tell him something?I haven't even said anything!

"How do you know that?"

"I know you,Wendy.You act weird when you need to tell someone something but can't find the right way to say it."

I shrugged and placed the cup next to me on the small wooden section of the door.I leaned forward and placed my hand on his cheek.Romeo looked down,then back up to my eyes.He closed the gap and kissed me.Romeo smiled through the kiss and pulled back.He stood up and pulled me up with him.I leaned against him and kissed him again.Romeo laughed and returned the kiss.

We stayed there like that for a while,kissing and enjoying the soft sound of the pattering rain.These were the stolen moments.But somehow,our kissed got more passionate and it a minute later he picked me up.I was now taller then him,my legs wrapped around his torso.I ran my hands through his hair,I had missed these moments so,so much.Romeo walked to our bedroom,where he pushed the door open.I was placed on the bed,our lips still locked.

I pulled back for a minute,to catch my breath.I tugged softly at Romeos shirt,he straightened up and pulled it over his head.Then,instead of going back to kiss me,he leaned his head against mine.We breathed heavily for a moment,then Romeo laughed."What?"I asked,Romeo shook his head from laughing.His shoulders bounced as he couldn't help it."Sorry,it's just...your hair is really fluffy and you looked adorable,"said Romeo.I felt the heat rise to my ears and cheeks.I tried to brush it down.

"No,leave it.It looks fine..."

We stopped for a minute,his words echoed around the room.I could hear his heartbeat,I could feel it through my thin shirt.I could feel his chest moving above me as he took shallow breaths.The rain was the only sound now.It was only us.There were no worries,no problems and no threat of a war.It was just us.I leaned up and kissed Romeo,softer this time.

"I love you."

"I love you too,Wendy."
