"AAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!"
Will this day never end?!
Hi, I'm Laura Claveria. I work at one of the biggest financial institutions in the country as a Management Reporting Officer.
And today, I am running late... for everything it seems.
It's one of those days, you know? One of those days when nothing goes right.
My day started when I woke up due to the heat, and quickly realized it was a weekday. Checking my phone which I leave at my bedside, I confirmed: Thursday, 6:30am. I overslept by an hour and a half.
Shit.
I got up and hit the showers. Driving to work was no longer an option because I wouldn't be able to get a parking slot by the time I arrived at the office, so I booked an Uber. Because of the time, demand was high and it took me close to fifteen minutes to get a car, then got cancelled on, had to wait for another booking, and was finally picked up by around 8.
Of course, traffic was bad, but I wasn't too late and got in the office at 9:15.
It was a month-end, so workload was double. This was why I liked getting to work early - to get a lot of stuff done before everyone was in and not have to do overtime.
But, wala na, late na ako. I ate lunch at my desk while working because I was hoping to still get out early and not miss my appointment at the nearby salon by 6:30.
And by 5:30pm, I think I would make it.
"Laura. Rush reports for Boss. Income figures for the management meeting tomorrow. Paki ayos naman nung excel files and powerpoint presentation din ha?"
It would take me about two more hours to do this!!!
Pero siyempre, walang magagawa kasi kailangan so let's do this.
At least, hindi ko pa din kailangan mag-cancel nung date ko at 8pm.
Yes, I have a date tonight.
A good friend of mine set me up on a blind date because I hadn't been in a relationship for awhile. I tried online dating apps, but always came across the really creepy ones, so I decided to give this a try. At least a friend of mine can vouch for the person already.
Because I hadn't dated for awhile, like I said, I booked a salon appointment because I needed a confidence boost and it normally, for me at least, came from having great hair to an event.
Kaya lang, that wasn't possible today, so bahala na mamaya. Daanin nalang sa confidence.
I finished the report just a little past 7:30 and started walking to the restaurant where my friend told me to go.
A strap on my sandal came loose so I sat at a bench to fix it, but before I could get up, a giant dog ran up to me... and peed on my foot.
"Oh my god!" I gasped.
"Rocky!" someone called. I looked up to see a tall, fair skinned man with patrician features, horrified upon seeing what his dog had done. "Oh no. Miss, I'm so sorry."
He knelt, motioning to wipe my leg but pulled back as abruptly as I did when I saw him kneel.
"Oh god. Sorry... I didn't mean... I just wanted to clean up what Rocky did... Here," he handed me his handkerchief.
I brusquely took the cloth offered and sat down. "Hassle naman o. May lakad pa ako eh!"
"I have some alcohol if you want. The rest rooms are close by also," the man offered.
"Kasi naman! The dogs here are supposed to be on leashes. Why is yours running around?" I pointed out.
"I'm really sorry. I was adjusting it tapos he got away. Medyo playful kasi."
"Well, be more careful next time." I started backing away, but he grabbed my arm.
"Miss, wait -"
"Hey! You assho-"
Whatever I was going to say was cut short when I felt my shoes sink into a wet patch on the grass.
Except that it wasn't just a wet patch.
"Rocky pooped kasi."
Date cancelled. Ruined shoes.
This is sooooo not my day!
