Leo Taylor sat at his desk. Furiously trying to find out where Ava might have gone.

"Leo, you find her. I want her here, dead or alive or the deal is off." Allen Bertrum loomed over Leo, his voice booming. "You promised us."

Leo nodded nervously and wiped his head with a hankie. "I know it, Allen. She just took off. I've had them find her car, but she and Melody aren't there. No one is there." Leo thought for a moment, "What about Edward, is he not looking for them?"

"I haven't been able to get into contact with Edward recently." Allen sniffed pompously, "Leo, I do not care about the details. Find her. Finish the friend too if you must."

Allen turned on his heel and stiffly let himself out of the room. Leo finally let his breath out.

He needed to find these girls. And he needed to do it fast, before things got out of hand.

Waking up to fresh mountain air felt like a dream, but it was Ava's reality. She stretched. Maybe she should look for an apartment, or a house even. Maybe she should even look for a car. She wanted to put down roots in a place like this.

A few knocks announced Melody's chirpy voice at the door, "Good morning, sunshine!"

Ava for once didn't groan at the thought of getting out of bed. She pulled on a pair of shorts and a loose shirt, since opening her door to the lodge hallway half naked was not the best idea.

"Hello, best friend!" Ava yanked open the huge wooden door with a twinkle in her deep blue eyes.

Melody walked in, coffee in hand. "I'm starting to think that you don't actually need coffee. You just needed away from your awful family." She smirked.

Ava shrugged grabbed the coffee and took a sip. It was still rather good anyway. "It still tastes good."

Suddenly, Melody's phone rang, and it startled them both. Ava looked at her confused, who could possibly be calling her?

Melody checked the screen, and swiftly excused herself from the room.

Ava thoughts whirled. Her parents are dead, I'm her best friend and here with her and she has no boyfriend and she couldn't take the all in front of me? Who was that? You're being paranoid, Ava. Stop it!

After a few minutes, Melody poked her head back in. "Hey, why don't you go explore today? I have some errands to run, just getting some things set up moving to a new city and everything, and selling the old condo."

Ava felt a little disappointed, "Yes, sure, okay. Have fun today!" With a quick wave, Melody was out the door.

"Hello," Melody answered the call quietly.

"Melody, are you alone?" The voice on the other end was soft, gentle.

"Sort-of. Ava is in the next room. But there's no one else in mine, except Percy of course." She patted the cat.

"I want you to meet me today. I can't meet you in Whitefish. She might see us." The voice became urgent. "I need to go." Melody was given an address and time and hung up.

Melody hated to do it, but she had to go tell Ava she couldn't be there today.
