Edward began to move and Ava breathed easier for only a moment as she realized it was because Elena was crawling out from under his lifeless body. "Useless." She ranted.
Elena turned on Ava. "You. You made my life hell these last few months. I have waited for this mo-" Elena's voice was cut short.
Ava heard what sounded like one of the large fireworks they set off on the Fourth-of-July sound off as Elena fell to the ground blood draining from a wound in her chest.
Ava dropped the gun in her hands, and began sobbing. She hadn't shot Elena, and she didn't care who had, but she was so glad this was all over. A wave of sickness overcame her and she heaved into the sand next to her, before passing out.
Ava woke to low voices and sirens, the world felt like it was rushing. "Wh-What's going on?" She lifted her head and the room spun. Her head fell back, luckily hitting a soft pillow. Slowly coming to the realization that she was in an ambulance and on a stretcher, she attempted to stay calm.
"Ava, you're awake." That was Will. He was here. He found her.
"Will, you found me." Ava said it like she had thought he would never come looking for her.
"Of course I did. I would never have let you wander the world alone." Will kissed her cheek.
She smiled. Her smiled faded quickly to a frown, "What happened at the dock? I don't remember anyth-" Ava began to cough, unable to speak until she could get down a few sips of water. She hadn't had anything to eat or drink for almost twenty-four hours now, but she certainly had thrown up enough to cause some problems.
Will sat the cup back down after giving her a few mouthfuls of water. He rubbed his neck nervously, and unable to look her in they eye told her that Edward was, in fact, dead. Ava was not as austere about Edward's death as she thought she would be. Maybe it was the fact that she had just found out he was her brother, or the fact that he was part of the reason she was still alive. Maybe it was that he offered his life for hers.
"He died for me." She stared blankly at the ceiling of the ambulance. Will said nothing, waiting for her to fully process the situation in her mind. "I wonder how long he knew." She turned her sad blue eyes on Will.
The sirens gave two blips and the ambulance came to a stop. Will grabbed Ava's hand for a moment as the doors opened, "Everything will be okay. I'll wait for you here." He kissed her hand and let go as the paramedics unloaded the gurney and rolled her into the emergency room.

The nurses came in and did routine blood draws and urinalysis. The doctor wanted to make sure Ava wasn't experiencing any Post Traumatic Stress from what she had experienced, and asked her if she might need help sleeping in the next few days.
"I really don't know. I don't usually take medicine. I'm still kind of in shock." Ava grabbed her stomach. How could she be so nauseous when she hadn't eaten in so long? She pointed for the trash can, which the doctor promptly handed to her. She immediately lost any contents left in her stomach into the trash can. "I'm so sorry, it must be the stress, or some kind of bug." Ava felt embarrassed.
"I'm going to write a prescription for something to help you sleep. If you decide you need it, then it will be there for you to use it." The doctor began writing out a script. A nurse came in and handed the doctor some paperwork, whispering in low, concerned, tones. The doctor raised a brow and looked at Ava questioningly. He waited for the nurse to leave the room and looked again at the papers.
"Ava. I think I know why you are constantly throwing up." He rolled his chair near the bed and showed her the lab results with her name on it. "It looks to me, like you are pregnant."
