"I didn't know that all my stuff could be moved in one hectic day, I am not even sure about my decision!"
"Well that is it, all your bags are here. This is your room now. Here is the closet, you know the bathroom, and feel free to explore the house."
"Isn't it too quick?"
"What is?"
"Moving in with you. I don't want you to do this because of my illness,"
"But I am not. I would love to have you with me, please?"
"Where is she?" I moved towards him as he was putting the empty suitcases in the closet.
"I had an agreement with her, she left. Don't worry, I am getting someone new," he clapped his hands after closing the closet.
"I can do myself here,"
"I know you can but you don't need to exhaust yourself,"
"No please, I really don't need anyone,"
"Why do you argue a lot?"
"Because you are nagging over a point that is done to me already,"
"Nagging?"
"Yes?"
"No?"
"Yes?"
"No?"
"You know that I could go like forever, don't you?"
"No?"
"Oh come on!" I pushed him away.
"I will leave you to change, I will have a quick shower and come back,"
"Alright!" I waved.
I took a walk around the house, it is really simple and nice. The backyard is wonderful, but it is missing a lot. I thought of adding few flowers to it, making it a great big garden. By the time I finished exploring, I sat on the porch. Time passed by, and I could see the empty dark sky above me, what is it that it feels? Oh, sky do you even hear me? Why am I so lost in this universe? Just like a water drop forgotten in a huge sea. Please, sky, save me.
"You are here. Isn't it cold for you?" he brought with him a blanket, and curled it around me.
"I love sitting here. This place is so quiet and empty," I looked up at the sky. "How is your mother doing?"
"Oh she is fine," he sat beside me.
"Ivana," he said softly.
I looked at him, trying to recall the way he called me.
"May I ask you a question?" He crossed his hands. "What is it that keeps you alive?"
It took me a moment to put the right syntax to my sentence.
"You see those trees in front of you Mr. Marl? Their leaves are dying, one by one. Do the trees fall? Do the stems break? Do the roots melt? No. They stand against the stormy weather, until the sun of the spring breaks through the grey clouds, giving birth to new leaves," I smiled.
"You have hope Ivana," he giggled.
"I don't, I just go with the flow," I joked.
"So why are you here with me?" he asked.
We silently stared at each other, but our eyes did not. It felt like both of us were reading each other, scanning each other, knowing that we really did not know why I was here or why he even wanted me to be here. "Maybe the flow?" I looked away from him. "Why did you ask me to be here?" I looked back again.
"I, I think we should enter, it is getting cold out here," he stood up.
"No, this is why I shouldn't have come!" I yelled as I ran into the house.
"What is happening?" he followed me clueless about my reaction.
I opened the closet and tried to take off my suitcase, but I was too weak for that.
"Please stop," he stood watching me as I fought with the closet. "Please," he repeated while I still denied him. "I said please!" he pulled me forcefully that I couldn't move my arm.
"It pains!" I yelled the loudest I ever could, crying and raging out of pain. He broke my arm, he just broke my arm.
"I did not mean to do that," he said while losing his control over himself, walking left and right over the room. He turned all red, moving his fingers through his hair, smashing the door and then opening it, he was in a total loss of thoughts. His eyes were full of tears and fear to sink together with guilt as he did not recognize the consequences of his reaction.
