Maria woke up the next morning to her alarm clock going off next to her head a soft whimper leaving her lips as a sharp pain rang throughout her skull everytime the alarm clock went off, its high-pitched beeping feeling like an icepick in her brain.
"No..." She whimpered, her hands moving to gingerly touch her head as her eyes squeezed shut, to protect them from the light. "Not again." She whispered, rolling over so her head was under the pillow.
The minutes dragged on as she waited for her family to leave, hours seemed to pass before everyone left and she was finally alone. Karen was silent today, as she was nearly everytime Maria got a migraine of sorts.
Her thoughts drifted as she lay in bed, each one going a million miles an hour in every direction and every topic. All of those thoughts coming to a stop as she thought of the one person who always managed to make her feel good, her best, and only friend. Without even think about her hand reached out and grabbed her phone off the nightstand and opened her contacts, now opening up her conversations with Kevin. She cringed when she saw how long it'd been since they last talked, and hit call.

Kevin picked up on the second ring, a soft smile in his voice as he spoke. "Hello?" Maria grinned at the sound of His voice. "Hey there, long time no see huh?" She smiled, whispering softly so she didn't hurt her head. "Yeah. You okay? You rarely call me out of the blue." He questioned, worry lacing his words. "Uh, Yeah, im just kinda sick and I miss you. I actually wanted to ask; do you want to come over?". Kevin chuckled through the phone, you could hear the sounds of him closing his books and gathering his things. "You still live in the same place right?"
Maria snorted "You would know if I moved. The door's open so just let yourself in." She giggled, rolling over to further bury herself in the blankets. "Will do honeycomb, I'll be there in twenty." He chuckled, hanging up the phone now.
Maria smiled to herself as she set the phone down, stretching out happily before curling up and sighing in content. "Yay."She mumbled to herself as she closed her eyes, slowly drifting in and out of consciousness.

When Maria woke up finally it was much brighter in her room and she wasn't alone, there was a person laying behind her, their legs tangled with her own. "hmm?" She mumbled, still not awake enough to understand everything. "Hiiii." Kevin smiled, yawning softly as he grabbed his pillow and mushed his face into it "Hellooooo," Maria grinned, wrapping her arms around Kevin's neck. "From the other sideeee." He sang, laughing as Maria flicked his forehead. "No Adele."
"Okay okay, but get up, I'm starving." He smiled, standing up out of bed now before dragging Maria with him to the kitchen. A large smile on his face as entered the kitchen. "What would you like to eat?" Maria asked him politely, knowing she would not be eating anything.
"How about I cook us something?" Kevin grinned, picking Maria up now and setting her on the counter. "Uhm, you can cook yourself something, I won't eat." She whispered, fidgetting with her fingers.
'Oh look, the little pig actually learned.' Karen chuckled, her words making Maria cringe and curl up on the counter as best she could. "Hey? You okay?" Kevin frowned, his hand moving to gently rest on Maria's thigh.
"what? Oh, yeah im fine," Maria looked over at Kevin before giving her her best fake smile. "Seriously? Girl, you know that shit doesn't work on me. Tell me the truth already, I already know about the voices and about the cutting and starving, but please, please talk to me. Just tell me already!" Kevin exclaimed, throwing his hands around as he talked.
"I-I, I'm sorry." Maria whimpered, sniffling softly as she heard Kevin yell. "Hey, im sorry okay? I kist want to help you. I love you and I hate seeing you in pain, let me help." He pleaded, his hands cupping Maria's face gently.
'He's lying!'Karen hissed in Maria's ear as she thought over everything, her thoughts zooming in her ears at speeds she couldn't possibly understand. She could tell him and he could help, or he would, in fact, be lying and he would leave her. Or she could hold everything in and let Karen continue to have control over her life.
After what felt like forever maria finally exited her mind and looked Kevin in the eyes. "I'll tell you." She whispered, her words choked as she continued to fight Karen and her other demons.
'No!'
~~~~~~~~
"Please! Say something!" Maria demanded, staring at Kevin like she had been for the past ten minutes. He listened to every word, never jumping in or stopping her, but as soon as she was done he fell silent, he wouldn't even look at her.
'What did I say? He's going to leave you, you pathetic worm.' Karen hissed.
"She was right, she's always right," Mria mumbled, crying softly as her gaze shifted to her lap, her hands folded tightly in an attempt to ease some of her anxiety. Kevin's head snapped up as he heard Maria, a frown on his face. "What did she say? Maria, what did she say to you?" He stood up straight, walking over to Maria till they were close enough to hear each other breathing.
"She said that you'd leave, that you didn't actually care about me or my broken-ness." Maria sobbed quietly, squealing slightly as Kevin unexpectedly wrapped his arms around her and pulled her into a hug. "Hey, I promise you, I will never leave. I will be here for as long as you need and then more. I'm here for you, I promise."
"Promises break Kev," Maria whispered, leaning against Kevin's chest now, her shoulders shaking violently as sobs racked her body.
"This one won't. I love you and I will never break this promise." He smiled, laying a soft kiss on Maria's forehead before pulling back. "From now on you tell me when she speaks, and you tell me what she says so i can tell you how wrong she is."
Maria smiled softly, nodding her head now as she wiped her tears off. "Okay. I like that plan."
