chapter six – dangerous love

"You're a dangerous love, and baby you're no good for me darling."

I took a deep breath, while closing my eyes as I laid in bed. It was a long week, and I could not bare to see another night without sleep.

The full moon was soon making its peak as the days go on, and each day went by slower than ever.

"Hey, Sabrina."

I closed my locker, my attention now shifted to the person standing besides the other lockers. A slight smile began to grow on my lips and tilted my head to the side.

"Lydia, what a surprise," I spoke. "I suppose you're here to argue – or try to anyway – about the talk I had with Jackson." I picked up my bag off the ground.

"Actually, I'm here to apologize," the strawberry blonde stated. "Oh," was all I said, my eyes adverting from the ground to the lockers.

Lydia cleared her throat, clearly the awkward tension with her apology. "I realized that I have been such a bitch towards you, and you're friends with Allison," she began to say, trying to make reasoning between herself and I. "I'm friends with Allison. It makes sense that the three of us should be civil and be friendly towards one another."

I looked at her, my hand holding onto the strap of my bag that was dangling from my shoulder. I began to open my mouth, then closing it when no words have been coming out.

"I knew this wasn't going to work, I should probably – " Interrupted by the bell, Lydia sighed to herself before beginning to ramble on once more. "You know what, forget I said anything," she stated as she walked into the crowd. Sighing quietly to myself, I knew I had to make things right and confirm that everything between the two of us would be fine, even if it meant to actually be friends.

"Wait, Lydia." I called her name, my feet picking up the pace to catch up to the strawberry blonde. "Why don't the three of us go shopping for the dance? That way we can have some bonding time or whatever you want to call it." I suggested, hoping that the suggestion would work and the female slowly nodded her head, her eyes looking down before back up to create eye contact. "That would make Allison very.. content with this agreement," Lydia pointed out.

I nodded my head, agreeing to her statement and gave her a welcoming smile. "Well, I'll text Allison about everything and we'll go from there?" I asked before she returned the smile and greeted each other goodbye as we both went into different directions.

Mumbling under my breath and walking to class, the second bell began to ring. I opened the door and walked inside the classroom as everyone was just getting to their seats. "Great, that means I'm not late."

It was finally the weekend and I could not be any happier. The positives are that Jackson has stopped talking to me altogether, not a glance coming in my direction. Derek and I have gotten closer as training became more frequent. Along with the fact that my best friend from New York is visiting, which is a very positive thing only because the house has been quiet lonely with just one person living in it.

"You know, maybe if you were to knock none of this would have happen," Riley spoke, walking into the kitchen. My back was facing him, and I was currently trying to make dinner. So far success has been paid off.

"I've been living in this house for a while now and I don't knock. That's why I lock the doors so no one comes in," I explained, waving the spatula in the air as Riley's laughed.

Within a few moments, dinner has been served in a comfortable silence. All you could hear was the clicks of the forks against the plates, and the crickets chirping loudly outside from the windows being open.

"I forgot what it's like to have a homemade dinner sometimes," he began to say, breaking the silence. I looked up at him as I leaned back into the seat, giving him a soft smile. "Yeah well, welcome to my world of homemade dinner," I stated, grabbing my drink and taking a few sips from it before placing it back down.

"It reminds me of something, though. As if I'm home back in New York, you know?" Riley continued, licking his lips. It then became silent once more, and in a few minutes after, we began to clean to the table that was once full of food and drinks.

As I was washing my hands in the kitchen sink, the doorbell rang and I furrowed my eyebrows together. "Were you expecting someone?" Riley asked, closing the fridge. Being just confused as I am, I began to walk to the front door. It was ten thirty at night, and no one really just shows up at the front door this late.

Before opening the door, I could sense their heart beat through the door. Whoever it was, seemed really nervous being at my front door at this hour. I raised a brow at Riley who shrugged his shoulders and walked back to the kitchen. I sighed quietly to myself, my hand reaching for the door handle and opening it. There stood the man I've grown a bond with, someone who has given me a little hope in this world.

"Scott?" I asked in a confused tone, turning around to made sure that Riley was busying with the dishes. The coast was clear, and I stepped out of the house while closing the door. I looked up at the male who was now standing in front of me. "What are you doing here? It's almost eleven," I whispered to him, my eyebrows furrowed together to show my confusion. The cold air blew in my direction, making me wrap my arms around myself to contain the rest of the warmth I had.

"I just," he sighed, as if he was trying to gather all his words together. "I heard that whole thing about Jackson, how he left and stuff," Scott began to say, scratching the back of his neck in an awkward position. I wasn't surprised, and all I did was shrug my shoulders. "I'm fine, there's nothing to worry about," I told him, giving the male a reassuring smile. "Who else is in your house?" he mentioned, feeling that there's another person inside the home by their heart beating. I could feel Riley's heartbeat, it was steady.

"Just a friend from home, he's just visiting," I stated, nodding my head as I began to laugh quietly. "Scott's always trying to save everyone," I added before looking up at him and ending the night.

Breathing out quietly, I suddenly gained the courage to place a soft kiss on his cheek. "Goodnight, McCall," I said, ending the night quickly. I knew he was still seeing Allison, and the two tried to make it seem like they weren't together. "Goodnight.." He trailed off, his voice in a state of shock of what I've done.

I turned around, my hand on the door knob to walk back inside, looking behind me. We both shared a smile, our looks lingering at each other for a moment. I then looked away, closing the door and making sure that it's locked. Riley was leaning against the wall with a slight smirk on his face. "So, that's pretty boy huh?"

"Were you eavesdropping on my conversation?" I questioned, crossing my arms in front of my chest. I felt slightly offended at the lack of privacy I receive nowadays. "That and watching it all through the window," he confessed, and as a result received a punch to his arm. "Hey! What was that for?" He exclaimed, holding his arm and began to rub the spot where I punch him.

"For not giving me privacy with 'pretty boy'," I mentioned, using the nickname Riley had given him. The two of us walked back to the kitchen to finish up cleaning the rest of whatever what's left over to conclude their night.
