Her hair whipped around her round face as she moved stealthily through the mighty oak tree. Bark poked and prodded her bare hands, leaving little scratch marks on her dark olive skin.
This was her favorite pass-time, since her mentor, Merlin, started to teach her. This was very rare, so she enjoyed every minute she had to herself.
She was almost to the top when she heard her name being called out from beneath the tangled branches of the oak. "ALEXANDRIA! COME DOWN FOR YOUR LESSON!" a somewhat masculine voice yelled over the gusts of the wind.
She groaned. "C'mon, Merlin! Can't I have a little fun?" she yelled back.
Even though she disliked the idea of having to get out of the beautiful tree, She slowly started down. Once Alexandria reached the bottom, she met her stern faced teacher. Merlin was standing, arms folded across his somewhat broad chest. His dark hair was blowing around his face, his piercing green eyes filled with annoyance. He shook his head, his jawline showing very prominently.
"What have I told you about climbing that old tree? You KNOW that I disapprove of that." he scolded.
Alexandria hung her head, brown curls bouncing in and out of her vision. "Sorry, Merlin."
Merlin smirked. "Okay," he said sarcastically. "Well it's time for your lesson on levatating objects."
He turned around and walked to the little house hidden beneath the ground-cover. Alexandria groaned, then reluctantly followed her guardian. She had just turned fifteen and was very eager to finish her lessons with Merlin so she could explore the world.
Opening the shabby door, Alexandria entered her home for the past fifteen years. The roof was made from wooden slabs, all fitting together in evenly together to protect them from rain and snow. The walls were made from the same, except the pieces were much bigger. It had a dirt floor, with rugs scattered everywhere. It wasn't a shabby place, even with the vines hanging down from the ceiling.
Alexandria sluggishly walked over to the corner of their little house designated for learning. Merlin was grabbing some objects and setting them on the old, rusty table. She sat in her chair and rested her head in her hands. Merlin rolled his eyes as he sat down. "Are you ready, Alex?"
She nodded her head groggily and sat up from her previous position. Merlin nodded, his his bright green eyes showing excitement for the lesson.
"Alrighty then. Lets begin!" he said happily, a mood much different from what he was showing earlier.
Merlin picked up a small object and placed it in front of Alex. It was a small candlestick, the one that she had in her little room. He leaned forward in his chair to be able to talk to her without having to yell.
"Now think about the object carefully. Imagine every detail- cracks, grooves, etc. Leave nothing out." he told her. "It might help if you close your eyes."
Alex complied and closed her brilliant blue eyes. The image of the candlestick filled her mind as she pictured every detail until it was identical to the one on the table.
"Have you go the image?" Merlin asked quietly as not to disturb her thoughts. She bobbed her head. Merlin sat back in his chair.
"Good. Now say obah munggah then open your eyes. The candle, should float according to your desires." Merlin instructed.
"Obah munggah," she chanted.
As she slowly opened her eyes, gold filled her irises, showing that magic was being used. After the gold faded, it left little flecks of gold in her bright blue eyes- the sign of magic. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw the candle slowly drift upwards until it hovered about eye level. Merlin smiled and clapped.
