Naturally, spending so much time with Sirius turned you into quite the rebel, to Remus's dismay. Today, however, it seems you've went too far.

Potions with Slughorn was such a drab. You hardly took notes in that class, relying on Evans to help you later. "Today is a very exciting day, yes it is indeed! A Draught of Living Death is on today's lesson plan. Follow the instructions on the board, and you all should have a masterful concoction on your hands. I except excellence, and nothing less!" He gave a warm grin to Lily, and turned to give you a hawk eye.

"Git." Sirius muttered, making you snort. Remus worked away next to you, fully focused on his potion. Him being there smothered your cool facade, and you softened up a bit. Couldn't hurt to try this time... You lazily spilled ingredients in the cauldron, whisking it in quick bursts. Despite your messiness, it somehow ended up working.

Remus looked over at yours, as he was always done early. "Looks fantastic, (Y/N)! You've got a knack for potions, if you just applied yourself. Your heart quickened, but you whipped on your usual demeanor and ruffled his hair in playfulness. "Thanks, Rem. If Slughorn wasn't such a bloody twat, maybe I'd try more."

"And what was that, Mrs. (Y/N)?" Slughorn's voice boomed from across the room. The class immediately went silent as he ever so slowly walked over to your station.

Remus, the poor boy, awkwardly shuffled back over to his chair and sat down, watching you with worried eyes. Sirius leaned back in his seat. "Nicely done." He mouthed sarcastically. You stuck your tongue out at him quickly when Slughorn looked at his feet.

You turned back to face the Potions professor. "I said, before you so rudely interrupted me, that you were a bloody git." Color rose to his face in anger. Looking at the large audience of students, he took deep breaths. You almost laughed at his effort to not scream.

"You're lucky that I won't take away house points, as Gryffindor has at least some competent students that I would never take away points for." He looked pointedly at a blushing Lupin and Lily Evans. "However, you shall report to Albus immediately. Such behavior is never tolerated, and disciplinary measures are required."

Not in the mood anymore to pick a fight, you dramatically and slowly turned around, fingers meticulously knocking over the potion and spilling it on the floor. You strode out the door before any other punishments were handed out.

"Well, this class is only for the brightest of students, and (Y/N) (L/N) is clearly not fit." Lupin, the golden student of Hogwarts, would usually never go against a teacher, but you were the one exception he would always make.
"Excuse me, Sir." Lupin stammered, but quickly composed himself. "(Y/N) is one of the brightest witches you will ever meet in your entire life. You may not see it, but she has been making point-perfect potions the entire year. She pours them out and botches them up again on purpose. I don't know her reasons, whether it be boredom or to keep up her reputation, but I can wholeheartedly assure you that my (Y/N) is the smartest girl I know."

Sirius grinned and James beamed at the subtle declaration that even Remus didn't seem to notice when he said "my (Y/N)". Without another word, he set out to find you.

Knowing you, Remus found you on the Quidditch fields, throwing a Bludger up in the air. "Hey." He said, hands in his coat pockets. You whipped around, eyes narrowed, but you immediately softened when you saw Lupin. "I tried to stand up to you, I really did..." He began, but you cut him off. "I was outside the door until I heard you coming out. Thank you for saying all that about me..."

You walked closer to him, looking up at his warm eyes. "You really held me up on a high pedestal there." He gripped your shoulders softly. "I didn't lie once there, though. I've been observing you for quite a while now," he blushed at the confession. "And I know that there's a brilliant mind in there waiting to be discovered by someone." You stepped even closer at his words.

"Will you be that someone?" His heart skipped a beat, and he moved to engulf you in a warm embrace. "Only if you let me."
