"Sirius, you could get any girl in this whole damn school. Why can't you just let me have (Y/N)?" James angrily stormed after Sirius as he walked into the Gryffindor common room. "Because I don't want any other girl here! It's just her I want! It's always been her, James." The two stood on opposite ends of the room, glaring each other down. "Alpha males." Lily snorted from the couch. Remus nodded his head. "Oh, come on, guys. She's not a prize for you to win. Is it really worth it to tear apart a five year friendship for just a girl?"

"She's not just a girl!" The two boys shouted. The common room immediately silenced, filled with growing tension. "I need air." James simply said, stalking out the door. "Good riddance." James pouted. Sirius walked down the halls and corridors of Hogwarts, making his way to the Quidditch pitch, where he knew would be empty in the windy weather.

His feet pounded through the grassy field, but he stopped short when he saw a lone figure speeding through the sky, hair billowing behind them. James only knew one person who could fly with such speed whilst maintaining such grace. (Y/N). He smiled, and shouted out for you. You waved down at him, and slowly spiralled right in front of him.

"Hey, Potter." You smiled, putting your hands on your hips. God, she's so bloody adorable, James thought. "You were brilliant up there! With your dives, (Your House) has a perfect spot for winning the cup... if I wasn't there to beat you." He joked. You playfully batted his shoulder. "And to think you were finally going to compliment my impeccable Quidditch skills! Anyways, what brings you here? Not exactly ideal weather for playing."

James's heart pounded in his chest. "Um- So this weekend- Yeah, so, Hogsmeade on Saturday with me? Tomorrow?" He stammered out. Merlin's Beard, you stupid git. You didn't even mention it was a date. Stupid, stupid, stupid. His mental facepalms were interrupted by your enthusiastic voice. "Of course! But you still owe me some Butterbeer after I destroyed you on that match last week!" You gave him a quick peck on the cheek and a goodbye, and jogged back to your broom, not even noticing your own heart beating slightly faster.

Dizzily, James blinked, making sure he wasn't dreaming. When he was certain, a goofy grin spread across his face. Take that, Sirius. He laughed to himself and ran back to his dorm to tell Peter.

A few hours later, Sirius headed out just as James was about to enter the common room again. He stuck his hands inside his leather pockets and strolled out to the courtyard, desperate to get out of the castle. Walking along the edge of the forbidden forest, he found comfort in the unknowns of the woods. He took deep breaths, enjoying the cold air numbing his lungs.

"Sirius!" He heard, and lazily tilted his head to the sound of his name. He startled back only when he saw your face flying at his body at top speed. You slammed into him, knocking both of you onto the ground. Groaning, you opened your eyes and realized you were right on top of him. "Nice to see you too, tough girl." He grinned at you, almost nose to nose.

You quickly scrambled up, dusting off your clothes and giggling off the situation. "Bloody hell, skills are rusty ever since the snowy weather started. At least we get to go to Hogsmeade this weekend! Honeydukes is practically calling my name." Sirius lit up, mind naturally racing with ways to loop you into a date.

"Say, why don't you and I get out of here tomorrow and have a couple butterbeers? Treats on me." You opened your mouth to say yes, but rethought. But James asked me to go with him tomorrow... Ah, they're best buds anyways, not like they'd mind! Hell, they'll probably leave me in the dust and pick up some girls together. You laughed in your head at the thought.

"Of course I'll go with you, Padfoot!" His gray eyes twinkled in happiness, and your heart melted at the sight for a reason unbeknownst to you. You quickly embraced him, and he grinned at you as you hopped back on your broom and sped back into the stormy clouds. Sirius one, James zero, Sirius cheered in his head.
