Every time Lee got distracted, I'd take it as an opportunity to slightly diverge our course to his village. With every suggestive comment, when he was trying to walk and wrap his leg at the same time, or every time I 'tripped' we'd get slightly further from the Leaf.
We had been walking for several hours now. But recently we were following along a river.
I noticed Lee picking at his dried blood uncomfortably, so I suggested we wash up.
I didn't wait for his reply to start my stripping. The sweat made my clothes stick to my body, making me uncomfortably hot, so the cool air was a relief.
I turned to Lee. He seemed to be extremely concerned about the affairs of a stone he had found.
"Ah, so you like rocks." I looked him up and down," So do I." I purred, shuffling closer to him.
Lee became as still as the stone his eyes were glued to. The only one breathing between me, Lee and the stone was me. Yet even my breath was shallow and unnoticeable.
A fish jumped out of the water, slapping me on the leg before it continued on it's way. That had completely broken the moment (Curse you fish.)
Lee was now crouching at the edge of the water, gently cleeing the blood from his wounds. He quietly snickered to himself "He likes you."
I started toward Lee to mess with him as revenge for that comment. I was thinking of a snarky comment when i felt a kunai coming straight for Lee.
No time to think. I jumped in its path and caught it. By the blade. With my bare hands.
I stood there, watching my own blood drip from my hands, down my arms.
A man I didn't recognize fell to the ground in front of me. I looked up to see two other men trying desperately to convince Lee to spare them. They dragged away their fallen comrade in front of me back into the forest.
Lee rushed to my side. He clasped my bare shoulders and said something that seemed to be a question.
I looked back to my bleeding hands. Why didn't I close the wound?
Oh. It was poisoned. I can take care of that.
With most of the poison gone, I could actually understand what happened. But just for clarification, I looked at Lee questionably.
"Just some low life robbers. I took care of them-" He took the knife out of my clutch and examined my hands. "Are you okay? You seem out of it. Did you loose too much blood? Do you need some water? To sit down? Did you hit your head? The cut doesn't seem that deep but-"
"Lee! Calm down. You're freaking out more than I am." I interrupted. I put my hands on his face to try and calm him down. Of course I forgot they have blood all over them. I could still feel his soft cheeks through it. He was still in my hands.
