7:30 in the morning, Saturday. Light rays penetrate through the frost glass windows in his room, shining a split rainbow-colored light on his face. Woken up by the gentle warmth of the sun and background commotion of noises outside, Peter opens his eyes.
For the past few days, he has been facing and undergoing changes in his body that in little ways interfered with his spider-man responsibilities. So far, he has held up albeit with a struggle to not act on these impulses that spontaneously creep up on his mind.
"Maybe I do need some R&R."
He rose up from his bed and got on with his daily routine. After all his personal chores were done he goes to the kitchen and decides that for a change, he'll prepare their breakfast himself. He checked the pantry and found a pancake mix.
"Bingo. How hard can it be?"
He unpacks the ingredients inside and places it on the table. He also prepares the eggs needed.
"Right, just gotta check Youtube."
Peter pulls out his phone and places it on the table.
"Show me a video on how to make pancakes."
"Sure. Here's a video on how to make pancakes."
A video takes full screen on his phone and starts playing. Peter looks intently at the video when suddenly,
Smash, Smash, Smash. Three eggs were just smashed open on the table followed by vigorous pouring of flour on top of it. Then milk followed.
"What!?"
"Ohhh it's a HowToBasic video! Come on!"
He felt silly and laughed out loud.
"Good morning. Seems like you're already having fun," greets Aunt May with a smile.
"Oh, Good morning May. I was just going to prepare breakfast for the two of us," said Peter while stifling his laughter.
"Well, can I help?"
"Oh No, no, no. I can do it. You can relax at the living room and watch some TV," answers Peter with a smile.
"Thanks," replied Aunt May with a confused and pleasantly surprised expression.
Throughout the hour, Peter continued to attempt making pancakes. After numerous burnt ones, Peter managed to serve a stack of them on two plates.
"How is it?" asked Peter.
"It has risen a bit much but gotta taste it first."
"I don't know how that happened. I just added a pinch of baking soda."
"That's why. The flour included in the pancake mix is self-rising."
"Right, probably should've read the label."
"Don't worry, it tastes amazing."
"Thanks."
"Um, May, I was thinking about your plans for the summer break."
"What about it?"
"I guess we can go to Sicily."
"Great. Perfect timing too. I've just recently asked Julia if we could stay at their place if we ever decide to visit and she said she'd love us to come. We can leave as soon as Monday."
