"This dress is stunning on you, Charmaine. The navy is a really good color for you." I say to my friend as we stand in the ballroom.
"I agree; I told her she needs to wear navy more often." Chris Pine, her husband, states as he grabs her hand, rubbing his thumb against hers in a loving way.
"Have you had a chance to look at the items that are up for auction?" Charmaine asks Harry and me. I look towards my fiancé, allowing him to respond. We are at the Inaugural Ignite Ball for the Prince's Trust, and tonight is different; they are doing an auction. Celebrities, artists, and collectors from around the world have donated items to be auctioned off so young children can have life-changing opportunities. About 500 guests have attended the event even though the tickets themselves were quite pricey. I know that Harry will most likely donate and maybe bid on an item or two.
"Have yeh seen the abstract art piece by John Manchini? It's brilliant and would look ace on our wall in the entryway." Harry wraps his arm around my waist, squeezing slightly, and it makes me lean in closer to his body.
"I guess I should probably look at this painting before my fiancé buys something that I can't stand." I chuckle softly at Harry's reaction. His face is one of shock, and I know he is teasing because our tastes in decor are very similar, and I will probably appreciate the artwork as much as he has.
"We will see you around then." Charmaine grabs my fingers, giving me a soft squeeze as a goodbye.
"It was good see you both. Enjoy the night." Harry takes my hand, leading me towards the area that is holding the items that are up for grabs. "Take me to this art piece please." I wrap my arm around his elbow as he walks me around the different tables of auction items.
"....can't yeh just feel the emotion? It's like it slaps yeh in the face. I love it." Harry explains the painting to me and why he loves it, obviously trying his hardest to sell it to me. I honestly am fine with him bidding on any of the items. Until I see her. My breathing comes to a halt, and I slide to hide behind my fiance's body.
"Harry, don't move." I say softly, my voice shaking with anxiety as I stare down the woman I never thought I would see in real life.
"What are yeh doin'?" Harry chuckles at my weird reaction. He has never see me act so strange, and I have been to a few celebrity events since we started dating.
"I'm gonna tell you something. And I need you not to laugh." My voice is serious, peeking over his shoulder, just to make sure she is still standing where I saw her last.
"Okay. No laughing." Harry is curious to know what has gotten me so nervous.
"I'm serious Harry; no laughing."
"Promise. No laughing. Just tell me please." His hand reaches back, latching itself in mine and his thumb rubs circles against my skin. The moment sends shivers down my spine as my heart rate begins to slow as I relax at his touch.
"I have never told you this, but I'm a massive, I mean MASSIVE Spice Girls fan, and Posh is standing right over there, and I feel like I might pass out. She is beautiful, Harry. Look at her. Gorgeous." I let out a small sigh after the rant that has come out of my mouth like water rushing through a just opened dam.
"Hold up!" I can hear the chuckle that is being held back in his voice. "Are yeh fangirling over Victoria Beckham? My girl is fangirling. I'm surprised."
"Hush, and don't say her name out loud. She could hear you." I whisper, ducking behind my fiancé as the popstar looks around the room. My fingers squeeze his hand with anxiety. I'm nervous from sharing the same space as her.
