PERCY THOUGHT THAT LIVING life to the fullest was actually a pretty cool motto. It meant skiing, acing tests like there's no tomorrow, taking a selfie with a wild boar before dying from said action, keeping Zeus himself at bay, getting Hera to swear on the River Styx to stop having ridiculously weird ideas, enjoying his teenage years, smiling genuinely at Annabeth, playing Truth or Dare occasionally, beating Jason at UNO, swimming his heart out, and so on. In short, living the good life in a good way.
He sighed, letting the scenarios envelop and play on his terribly worried mind. At least, Percy would cherish the thought 'till it lasts. Who knows? It could even become possible someday, away from all the mess and constant dramas of his short-lived half blood life. Curse Dionysus and the other Olympians for that.
Right?
Like a huge slap from the skies above, the son of Poseidon immediately realized that demigods such as himself had inherited the no-funny-bone trait of their parents. Words were taken literally, brewed and summed up with extra caution, as they take quests head-on with a plastered grin and a hidden frown. They didn't have time to mess around and crack a joke or two. When it came down to certain situations, half bloods like him never have a sense of humor.
Now, you might think, "Oh, but Mr. Perseus Jackson! You are way too funny all the time! And sassy as well! You obviously have a funny bone placed somewhere inside that body of yours! Don't fool us now!" Alas, as much as Percy himself is flattered, we are talking about an entirely different matter here, guys.
The Olympians never goofed around when the going gets seriously tough. They give mottos and morals for mortals to remember, even if they themselves had trouble interpreting them (nobody would acknowledge it, so don't bother trying unless you'd like to be turned into burnt toast). Actually, the deities almost ended up fighting because of their different views on the saying, "No pain, No gain.". And, like their godly parents, the demigods were seriously having a hard time to distinguish the real meanings behind those lines. Percy was just learning, though his companions obviously had it worse.
In other words, to live life as a proud half blood by heart (like him and his hopelessly selfless friends), you need to kill monsters and try not to die while playing the latest games on your iPhone. I mean, yeah...I guess that's normal enough.
Chaos is spreading like wildfire...
We are definitely doomed...
Strange, but Olympus doesn't want to interfere this time, no matter how harsh the outcome could be...
Percy honestly thought that the Olympians had really meant, "Deal with these yourselves, demigods. Oh, and bring 12 ice creams while you're at it! Do our manicures!" by the previous statement. Nico, Chiron, and Will had just left awhile ago, exactly three seconds before Rachel, Ella, and Apollo woke up from their three-hour-long slumber. Things were too obvious to not be connected.
Frank slouched back in the wooden chair, speechless, as Nico mentioned Camp Jupiter being one of the possible targets for the next attack. Apparently, they had encountered unfamiliar beasts too, and everyone immediately became worried. Percy wasn't a Greek History enthusiast, but when the Athena kids start getting speechless themselves, it was perfectly fine to start panicking. Actually, if Annabeth couldn't solve the situation (he personally hoped she would), he'd react the same way, so to speak.
The gods were apparently not exercising the need to support their children (no surprise there) even in the smallest attempt. Deities were totally into family virtues and help-friendly awards that way. The Greeks and Romans loved them, so you can imagine how they got tons of recognition (and trophies) for practically doing nothing at all.
