"C'mon Katty! We don't want to be late!" my older sister Missy yelled. I scrambled around my room for my tracker.
"Where is it!" I lash out frustrated. I hear footsteps close to my door. The door creeps open and I know what is coming next.
"Katty Jone Merrick!" Missy yells. "If you aren't downstairs and out the door in a minute you can walk to school! The bus is gonna be here soon!"
"Missy! I can't find my tracker!" I cry out frustrated. Missy sighs and rummages through my desk.
"Well just use mine. I'll grab dad's since he isn't working today." Missy groans. I smile with delight and jump up to give her a bone crushing hug.
"I love you Missy! You are the best sister ever!" I squeal with delight. Missy pushes me off of her and rips her tracker off her arm.
"I know I am. Now go downstairs to wait for the bus. I'll be down in a minute." Missy says. I place the tracker on my arm and fake a salute.
"Yes C'apan!" I beam. Missy glares at me as she walks into dads room. I run down the steps and out the door just in time to see the bus pulling up to our house.

"Katty, can you tell is about the war that took place in 2034?" Mr. Shenter asks. I look around the room nervously hoping for an answer to hit me.
"Um..." I reply shakily. "Well the war was big." The class erupts in fits of laughter and Mr. Shenter places a finger to his lips to quiet them down.
"Yes, and?" he presses on. I stare at my hands and try to swallow the lump that had formed in my throat.
"And the United States was destroyed by the newcomers?" I ask him more so than tell him. He nods his head and takes a seat on his desk.
"If sorts yes." He smiles at me. I plaster a fake grin on my face and continue to play with my pencil. By the time class is over I rush to my locker to grab my books.
"Katty!" my friend Shaila screams.
"Shaila!" I mimick her. She stops jumping and gives me a death glare.
"Anyways!" Shaila beams. "We should hang out after the drawing!"
"Um, yea. We can do that." I smile at her. A feeling of uneasiness comes over me and I feel the urge to puke.
Yea if I don't get drawn. My name is in there 16 times. Goodbye life as I know it.

Once I get home from school I hop into the shower. I let the warm water run over my skin as I wash my hair. I then get dressed into a light blue dress with some white flats. The dress comes down to my knees and is sleeveless. I walk down the stairs into the front room to find my mom getting out her hair utensils.
"Mom?" I asked her reluctantly. She peered over her shoulder at me. A smile lit up her wrinkled face and she beckoned for me to sit on the couch.
"Do you want me to fix your hair sweety?" My mom asked while playing with my chocolate locks. I smile at her ad nod my head.
"Yes, thank you." My mom gets to work twisting, pulling, and braiding my hair. In the end I has a long French braid going down my back.
"Do you like it?" my mom asks sheepishly. I look closer in the mirror and nod in conformation.
"I love it." As the words slip out of my mouth Missy comes bounding down the stairs.
"Im ready." Missy smiles grabbing a scarf. My mom nods her head and grabs a coat.
"Are you ready?" I look into her eyes. They show a strange emotion. It is like looking into gray bottomless pits. I finally muster up the courage to speak.
"As ready as i'll ever be."
