The heart of a small girl,
Already shattered into two.
From the man she called dad,
Whom she looked up to.
Now he packs up his things,
Avoiding goodbye,
She doesn't dare to convince him,
She doesn't dare to try.
He heads out the door,
Leaving behind memories.
He'll never understand,
He will not ever see.
Pain clouded her eyes,
As the door slammed shut,
She didn't dare to chase him,
He proved she was out of luck.
He started his car,
Beginning to drive off.
I listened as it faded,
Watching him take off.
He left her behind,
Left behind the pain.
Now she was left outside crying,
In the depth of the rain.
Mommy was sick,
She wouldn't wake up,
Beer bottles piled around her,
Her past bottling up.
Now the girl was all alone,
She locked the door to her room.
Why would this happen to her,
What did she ever do?
She blamed herself for her actions,
What if she could be a better daughter?
Why was she blamed,
For the unstableness of her mother?
10 summers passed,
Now the girl was 15.
She was tired of waiting,
For her father to come back.
So she learned to rely,
Only on herself,
She tried to stay alone,
She didn't trust anyone else.
But the loneliness was unbearable,
She lost track of the days.
She began to hate who she was,
She's living in yesterday.
She uses other people,
Regretting her actions,
But to her, the cure to loneliness,
Was unwanted satisfaction.
People come and go,
Leaving her behind,
She begins to lose herself,
Losing pieces she'll never find.
She's looking for the answer,
Life disillusioned in her eyes.
Disguising who she is,
Giving into false hope and lies.
The pain was unbearable,
Yet the attention drawn her in,
Fighting with her thoughts,
Letting her mind win.
The emptiness inside her,
Is gaping a giant hole,
She comes into realization,
That she's truly unfixable.
